Flew VS901 3/1/13:

VERA Reel/Odyssey really does suck, films started rolling pre-takeoff so all the films started for the first time about half-way through. Made worse by the passenger in 19C complaining loudly about it for the first hour after the IFE became available.

VERA Tab is no longer available for some reason (flight attendant just said that 'we had problems with one of them'). Anyone got any more information on this? I was really disappointed :/

Ha ha ha ha, some people just don't know how to complain silently do they..

I am guessing VERA tab is the IFE that come from the tablets handed out to only PE and UC pax on the old odyssey flights ?|

Never used it myself but I assume like all technology it occasionally needs a bit of a rest.. They most likely had a problem with a few of the tablets and as they did not have enough to go around opted to hold them back from the whole cabin so there wasn't any trouble.. Just a thought :?

The tablets are only on the NRT flights at the moment. Leads have to be given out to use the tablets and they were either not being given back or getting lost and and the stock,of them diminished really quickly.

Therefore until new stock is received and a way of better controlling them is developed, they were withdrawn from use, except for the NRT flights because I guessmtheynare longest flights the 300 is used on.

It takes about a day to print a check list form by seat number with a box to tick 'handed out' and another box to tick 'handed back' ): .

Surely the VS CC know who they gave them out to and who they got them back from?

I was on one VS flight from the US to NYC and there were at least three announcements about a 'missing' dvd player they had given out, with the final announcement basically saying 'hand it back now or the police will be waiting at the gate'

Indeed. Surely the failure here is with VS' cabin crew for not making sure that every item is returned before allowing the passengers to disembark?

So, you take the approach of the dreaded teacher line of 'I've got all day....'.... :?

Can you imagine the reaction?

CC presumably do know who they give them out to; but what do you do if the passenger smiles back and says "no you didn't"....

I too have heard the "we'll call the police" in regards to a dvd player, how on earth they didn't know who they'd handed it to was beyond me.

My guess would be that they did know who they gave it to and were in no mood to play the he said, she said game.. unless the police opted to detain the entire plane I am sure the CC would just point to the guilty party... problem solved ii)

This was the NRT run - it was NRT-LHR.
