Quick question
Can children go in the LHR clubhouse other than if they are flying UC because I tried to pay for my son and I as an extra to my booking(thought it would be nice for some bonding time) but virgin holidays said it wouldn't let them book it
Ps going to NYC not Boston as I thought it would be more interesting for my son but thanks for all the Boston info ,I will go there shortly

Children can enter the clubhouse and there is even a playroom but you have to be either flying UC or a FC Au card holder, or have booked your trip through VH and pay for access but that is limited in terms of numbers of people.

So, did you book your flight and holiday via VH and if so what reason did they give?

Yes slinky ,literally just booked it tonight through VH,
The lady said that when she put in 2 adults it would accept it but putting in 1 adult and 1 child it wouldn't.
She wasn't sure of the rules and did try ringing someone somewhere but it's obviously getting a bit late and had no luck.
Would love to be able to take him in there so she told me to phone back tomorrow

Huh, that is weird. :? :?

I don't think children get a discount... perhaps they have reached their kiddy quota for that day.

If the option is there, book 2 adults. Perhaps they won't notice :P

Nice choice on NYC, was going to weigh in on the other thread but everything had pretty much already been said. In my view if you are looking for fun and games for 4 days head on over to NYC, y) y) looking for a bit of a quiet break to take in some history in really nice surroundings then Boston is the choice.

Hope ya enjoy it Blacky 8D

I did suggest the two adult thing to the VH lady but she said it would show up and cancel it quickly because it contradicts the booking,
It's not a show stopper but it would be nice to go to CH before the flight.
Really looking forward to going back to NY and showing my boy the sights, loved it last time.going a week tomorrow!

Any ideas for any other pay to enter lounges?

Number 1 lounge seems to have reasonable reports from a few here .

Funny you should bring up the subject. VA keep emailing me with the Guest List offer for our flights in August. A mere £600 for the 3 of us :-0
Anyway not interested especially as only live 30 mins from LHR.. But I emailed them back and asked if we could have access just to the clubhouse as we will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, travelling PE blah blah blah.

Anyway got the reply that we cannot book in advance but if there is space we can pay on the day , was quoted for 2 adults and 1 child (aged 5). It's the Saturday of the August bank holiday and we are on VS007 so am not gonna hold my breath as I assume it will be busy, but was pleasantly surprised to be offered the option :)

Hope you get your booking sorted and enjoy NYC !! Love the place :)

T3 No.1 Lounge is fabulous and knocks socks of the 'Servisair type' lounges in many UK airports.
Used it in Aug flying PE with the kids to NYC and they spent most of the time playing pool and chilling in the cinema room.

Would recommend -it's as close as it comes to a small CH and better value if you have to pay. You can get access with Priority Pass too if you have it.

Good to hear positive comments about the no 1 lounge because I booked it earlier today,
Not too worried about the food side of things as we will have a hearty breakfast at the hotel beforehand, all I want is a few drinks ,a game or two of pool with my son and most of all some relative peace and quiet away from the masses in the terminal

If you're very lucky on the day, you might find that your 5 year old gets into the CH for free... that always used to be the policy when I was taking my kids in and I had already used my guest pass on my wife. Now they are both over that age, I only pay half price, so still not too terrible... think that holds until they are 12... good luck.

Thanks ratecbaser will keep fingers crossed...

Blacky - not sure how old your son is but if you have a Tastecard, you get 2 for the price of 1 entry into the no 1 lounge.

Enjoy Your trip :)
