Received this offer via email today - appears to be possibly targeted.

To be eligible for the offer Cardmembers must book their flight at virgin-atlantic.com. Offer valid when you book and pay with an American Express Platinum Card. Thanks for posting this. I wonder if it is targeted - I haven't had it, but then I opt out of promotional emails!

However I did receive in the post yesterday another offer giving 5000 MR points plus a x3 bonus for travel bookings made before 31 Jan.

I wonder if I have unticked a box somewhere ?| ?|

I never get the mileage transfer bonuses. Apparently there is some MR magazine or something sent out that despite requesting, they always fail to send me.

As for the other promotional stuff, I have had to change my marketing profile to opt-in a number of times. Not sure why it seems to reset, but I have added two email addresses now to be double sure!

Worth noting with this one: [the small print]

You do not get the x3 points for anything booked through american express travel and paid directly to the supplier, i.e. booked and paid for laterincluding any FHR hotel bookings. n(

Only on direct hotel/flight/car/experience bookings via american express travel.

Thought it seemed too good..

Do a search for hotels in Chiang Mai, you'll find a hostel at £8.25 per night. Book 1 night.

5,000 VS miles in the bag :D

Done :) . Thanks Raffles- any idea how long they take to post and will it work for an additional supplementary plat card holder?

I don't think it works for supplementary card holders as the T&Cs state one bonus per account, and supplementary card holders do not have their own separate MRs account.

Btw...did you manage to activate your bonus via the website? I've tried several browsers and the site doesn't seem to load properly. The 'Register for Bonus Points' button never seems to appear.

You need to copy the code in the box into your clipboard, then click Opt In on the left hand menu and paste the code in that box. Works fine that way.

Apparently the 'submit' box is 1 pixel x 1 pixel which is why its tricky to see otherwise!

Not clear yet if the 5k post with the booking or later, too early to tell.

I am not even getting the code now - just some system error at the bottom of the screen.

I emailed AMEX and got this response:

I am able to confirm that this is a known technical issue. The link to register for the offer is not working and there is some issue with the code as well. Our Technology Team is working diligently to resolve this concern.

However, we assure you that we will honour bonus points for the travel bookings made prior to January 31st, 2013. The bonus points will be applied to your Rewards account as per the timeframe stated in the terms and conditions of the offer.

Also, they are going to look at the issue over me not getting MR transfer offers. Apparently all Platinum members should get a magazine with offers, unless they opt out of marketing.

Worth a secure message email to MRs if you are missing out too!
