Air New Zealand Lounge LAX

I have posted this in the Departure Lounge forum even though it involves Air New Zealand. Most of you may know VS does not have a Clubhouse at LAX where it operates out of T2. Instead it has a lounge sharing arrangement with Air New Zealand and it's very excellent Koru Club Lounge.

We have used this lounge several times and have always been warmly welcomed and well looked after.

Thierry Pillet the Lounge Concierge - International Airline and Head of Station has asked me to let my fellow v-flyers know that access to this lounge may be purchased, subject to availability (obviously at busy times there may not be spare capacity available) for the sum of $60 (USD). He has said any v-flyers would be welcomed.

I highly recommend the lounge and the price seems very fair. I was not aware that you could buy access and I am guessing most of my fellow v-flyers may also not be aware so there you go. Enjoy.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you know how far in advance you can purchase access, and how you would go about it?

I am flying in from Vegas end of June and then connecting on the VS024 some 4 hours later after my LAS-LAX flight arrives in LA, so what better way to treat the wife to an end of holiday chill out in the Lounge.

Supernovo, as the access is dependent on available spaces I doubt you would be able to pre-book, more a case of turning up at the Concierge Desk and enquiring.

joeyc, it is a general offer, open to all. Thierry asked me if I would be kind enough to let v-flyers know about it. He has visited our site and was quite impressed, hence the offer. No password required

Considering I shall be arriving in from Vegas 4 hours prior to VS024 departing I'm hoping to bag a couple of spaces then.

I'm not sure how they compare but the Air France lounge charged $35 per person this time last year.

A couple of years ago I accessed the AF lounge at LAX using Priority Pass when flying on the late VS flight, and the best way to describe the AF lounge is 'basic' IMO. If you're paying then by the sounds of things, I would go with ANZ.

There is a very extensive cold buffet and, of course, an excellent selection of very good Kiwi wines . The lounge is well laid out and offers a wide range of amenities including showers and free WiFi.

It is worth checking out, I would be very surprised if you were to be dissapointed.

I have to apologise, slight but important error in my OP, Thierry is not Head of Station for ANZ at LAX, my misunderstanding. His title is otherwise correct as 'Lounge Concierge - International Airline'.

There is a very extensive cold buffet and, of course, an excellent selection of very good Kiwi wines . The lounge is well laid out and offers a wide range of amenities including showers and free WiFi.

It is worth checking out, I would be very surprised if you were to be dissapointed.

But is it worth twice the price?

AF had free wifi etc but didn't compare with some I have used.

If I have to pay I am looking to get the cost back (compared with the terminal) for food/drink/services allowing a little for the piece and quiet - missing from a lot of lounges as children are permitted and the parents don't/can't be bothered to make them behave.

Just a pointer in the right direction please, anyone who isn't gold or upfront in UC, where did you go to inquire about this ANZ lounge access? - The last thing I want is to clear customs only to be told that access had to be obtain prior to air side. v(

Did you just check in and turn up at the door of the lounge and pay to go in? - Or was the access sorted prior to this? - Like at the VS check in desks, for example?

In T2 all the lounges are after security. Walk through the shopping area towards the gates and you will see the stairs and lifts to the mezzanine level where (?)all the lounges are.

@Supernovo, go to the lounge and enquire at reception, if there is space you pay there and then. The ANZ lounge is across the other side of the mezzanine from the elevator.

@PilotWolf, I guess it depends how you quantify "worth twice the price". The food selection alone is worth the difference in my view. YMMV.

FWIW, I've used the ANZ lounge and it's really nice.

Good food, good wine, beer, showers, good staff, etc...

And this is in contrast to the particularly awful T2 no-lounge experience, which I've also done.

I have yet to visit a Priority Pass lounge that was not basic.

I've spent a lot of time in the ANZ lounge at LAX and have always had a wonderfully relaxing time. Good food, good drink, nice showers and plenty of space. Perfect to avoid the scrum downstairs
