Went on to VS yesterday to book some Z fares to NYC in April for my 40th Birthday and selected the VS 45 and fares I wanted, clicked to go to the next page and within the 30 seconds or so that it took to load the page, the Z fares I'd selected had gone and been replaced by I fares. :0

An hour later, ( after discussing options with my friends who are traveling with me) logged back in and low and behold, there was more Z fares available!

Talk about making me panic, but 4 Z fares to NYC now bagged, though not too impressed with the price, but a discount is a discount I guess. :D

Ahh yes, it is very annoying when that happens.... probably the result of people doing dummy bookings to try to find some cheap UC fares..

There has not been a real UC sale to start off the year has there??

Come on BA get the lead out... VS will then follow suit :P

Enjoy your flights 8D

No, I've seen much better Dec/Jan UC sale fares, but I had set my heart on NYC and dispite the fares not being as discounted as those I'd got in the previous Dec sales over that last two years, decided to bite the bullet and take the not so sale fares that were offered.

When you start booking any airline fare, once you select the fare, it gets taken out of the booking pool and held for you for about 20minutes allowing you time to purchase it. If you don't purchase the fare, after the allotted time, the fare goes back into the pool.

It's done this way to stop multiple people trying to buy the same fare at the same time.

Ah that makes total sense, should have thought of that really, rather then letting myself get slightly panicked that we wouldn't be able to get the flight times we wanted.

All good now though :-)
