Following from Nessy's earlier load check update request what are the likely chances of Nessy and DL the Elder getting an op -up given the busyness of the PE cabin on both legs?
DL the Elder is Au and Nessy Ag so I'm not sure if travelling as a couple ( with only DL the Elder Au) will hinder any chance that theoretically might be available? I know it's all a bit of a mystery when it comes to the great op- up gods and they've both been happy to use miles but the seats just haven't become available :# .

I wouldn't be too optimistic (sorry). PE looks busy, but that's not unusual. Having them both on one booking may work against you, or not - just depends on so many other variables.

Remember that the entire goal of the revenue people is to get their sums right so they do not have to opup anyone! You have a whole team working against you...

To be honest, I reckon your best shot is that a G or two become available.

P.S. isn't asking 'will I get an opup?' bad form? ;) :-p :)

Which is exactly what I've been trying to do ( and nothing has become available) .I haven't asked " will they get an op -up", I'm merely trying to ascertain whether only DL the Elder being Au is a help or a hinderance in this situation :) .

DragonLady, another point just occurred to me. Are they on revenue fares, in K bucket? If so, you are presumably beyond the advance purchase period now so upgrades with miles are going to be pretty expensive.

I was just teasing!

I think it would normally hinder. But if they happen to be in a PE cabin with few others who have status, or with few solo flyers, then maybe they will be lucky.

Good luck.

Agreed for the most part with at240. Although AU has led me to getting op ups even when travelling with other people in PE... and yes I did leave them :P Would not say it is a hinderence.

I usually ask for availability in UC when at check-in.. it is an indicator to the desk staff that you are open to moving on up.. If they are looking at an oversold cabin don't be surprised if they take your 'ums' and 'ahhs' as a sign to negotiate... a two for one offer is the best I have ever got out of the ticketing desk ): which was amazing given there were 4 of us...

If DL the elder and Nessy have miles to burn then I would say to def give it a shot at check-in, if there is UC availability then they will go ahead and convert the Js to Gs for a couple of FFs.

The revenue management team don't like handing out op-ups and it is literally the endgame for them, perhaps closing your eyes and wishing really hard will increase their chances :w
