Hi all
As some of you maybe aware I'm going to back to NY on thurs with my son.
As it was a late booking with VH seat choices weren't great and I have got 36 D &E on the outbound trip whereas I would rather have 2 on the side.
I'm sure I've read somewhere that VS hold back the first few rows and allocate them at the airport,
So the question is am I right in thinking this or have I imagined it ( might be wishful thinking) and if I am right is it done on a first come first served allocation or would it go on fare codes?
Thanks
Blacky

I wasn't aware of VS selling any seats at a premium in W class at check in. They are normally held back in case of parents travelling with infants. The bassinet fits to the bulkhead wall.

Staff on Staff Travel are given whatever's left.

Yeh they don't sell extra legroom or bulkhead seats in PE... Crew on staff travel sit in what is left, although they do tend to receive better service at times depending on the FSM.

They hold them back until check-in, so make sure to ask when you get to the airport.... first come, first served.

Blacky you are right about this. I am assuming you are on a 747 out of LHR. Whilst the bulkhead seats are held back for people who need them, some of the others in PE are also unavailable for pre-request but become available just before OLCI.

Hint -- look at the seat map from around 7 hours before OLCI opens. Keep checking if you can. ;) :)

Just checked seat map again for my vs45 tomorrow and 16 more available PE seats appeared so wanting to sit on the side I have now got 30 h&k instead of 36d&e
Many thanks to at240 for the tip on checking 7 hrs before,I would never have known otherwise and it really goes to show how good and helpful v-vflyer and its members are,
