My CX Au status equates to Oneworld Sapphire. I have a couple of internal QF flights coming up shortly and am trying to ascertain if Sapphire will allow me a greater baggage allowance on QF metal than the one I've got ( as sat in Y for these flights): ) - we're flying VS to SYD via HKG so have plenty of allowance for that part of the trip but I'm going to really struggle with 23kgs :0 .
Can anyone clarify - I've checked the CX and QF websites but am none the wiser ?| .
Also does anyone any experience of the QF domestic lounges at SYD?
Thanks,
DL

My QF gold allows 2 x 32kgs on domestic flights so I assume that would be the same for the equiv Sapphires. There are smaller allowances listed for Lord Howe Island and Olympic Dam flights. Enjoy your trip!

I can't vouch for QF, but I know that BA gave me an "unpublished" extra luggage last year when I was flying in Y to Spain. I was quite a bit over 23kg, and the checkin dragon didn't bat a false eyelash at me. I couldn't find anything about this in the small print, but then a friend told me they get similar privilege with their status card when flying with alliance carriers.
I'd check directly with QF if you're concerned.

Thanks for that Scally - I did ring QF earlier today and they advised baggage allowance of 23kgs but I can pay $20 on- line or $30 at the airports (s) for an extra bag . Crisis averted :D . The agent reminded me ( unprompted) of the lounge access I'd get though.

The Sydney domestic lounges are OK. As you are in Y and OW Sapphire, you only get access to the Qantas Club lounge and not the Qantas Business lounge.

The Qantas Club is perfectly acceptable, if you are off peak it should be fine as it can be very busy. The food offering is breakfast stylee until mid morning and then salads, cold meat, cheeses and soup for the rest of the day plus some hot nibbles around 1800 ish but if you are not at the counter when they are put out you will miss out! Despite QF offering a full service onboard.
The bar is not open until 1200 I think.

Enjoy.

Thanks Rob- very similar to the DJ offering then? All I really want is to get showered and do my hair :D and have some coffee before flying on to ADE. We will unfortunatley be there early as we're coming off the VS200 .

Similar question...

Anyone have any thoughts?

If I remember correctly, it was a couple years ago now and the memory is fading, you need to ask for a towel set, which has an amenity pack in it, at reception.

The trip was brilliant thanks - TRs to follow in due course.
