We are having a few days in LA before we travel onto Vegas and am looking for fellow v-flyers recommendations for transfer options from LAX to the hotel which is near to the walk of fame.

Will be arriving on the VS23 which gets in at 1945hrs and don't want the problems of waiting for shared vehicles and taking ages to get to the hotel, so I am looking for a reliable transfer/car service option.

Can anyone recommend one they've used before that isn't too expensive and is reliable ?(just a car don't need limo etc).

Or does anyone know rough cost of just jumping in a taxi from kerbside?

Thanks

I've used Carmel limo in New York with no problems (eg the other week when I accidentally ordered them for 8 am Instead of 8pm for example!).

They serve a number if airports so worth checking them out.

You could use someone like holidaytaxis.com, used them before for several destinations and quite useful. They have someone waiting for you at arrivals so take away the hassle but are a little more expensive than picking up a local taxi

Why are you staying in Downtown? I made that mistake just to try a different location last Sept. We arrived on VS007 on a Friday afternoon our kerbside taxi took 1.5hrs and cost $100approx. Never again! My recommendation for the best LA experience stay in Santa Monica, or Beverly Hills or West Hollywood. Best of Luck and Enjoy

The most economical and convenient way is by public transportation. The LAX Flyaway is an express motorcoach bus that has comfortable seating and a luggage hold for your luggage. This bus will pick you up kerbside at LAX T2 under the sign that says "Flyaway, Buses and Long Distance Vans" approximately every 30 minutes. The cost is $7 using credit card/debit card only via online ticketing or on arrival at Union Station. Travel time from LAX to Union Station is between 30 minutes to 50 minutes. From Union Station, you will transfer to Metro Red Line, which is an underground metro that will take you from Union Station to Hollywood, which is where the Walk of Fame is. Trains run every 10 minutes in the evening to Hollywood. The fare is $1.50. Travel time from Union Station to Hollywood/Vine Station (the W Hollywood is located right above this station) is 19 minutes. If you are staying at the Loew's Hotel or the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, go to Hollywood/Highland Station.

Hollywood used to be my neighborhood back in the days when I lived in LA. Enjoy your stay in Los Angeles!

Thank you to every one for the info and messages

It's given me a few companies to look at and some reasonable prices

Thanks tonywestsider for the expert route using the bus, which i'd be happy to do alone but Mrs Chumba doesn't want the hassle of a bus and then changing with baggage and prefers a direct car :D
