Morning all,

I have a flight on hold (using miles) till tomorrow, but I have noticed a potentially better option.

Does anyone know how many you could have on hold at the same time?

One would be miles and one would be cash.

many thanks

Have not been made aware of an upper limit before..

I have held a couple of flights 'on hold' whilst running about trying to track down a company credit card that works (long story) in the past, did not experience any probs. Although, all the dates were different - not sure if that would make a difference, to be honest never crossed my mind as the holds automatically expire after the hold time... give it a go y)

I'm certain it won't be a problem, assuming you don't go too wild making lots of hold requests that is :P

Thanks Joey, this trip is getting more and more complicated and if it were up to me I would postpone it, but as sister & family just landed last night, there's no hope of that B)

As they generate a booking reference you could in theory have loads of flights on hold. For a couple I don't think it would be an issue, starting getting in to double digits it might start some alarm bells ringing or rejections.

Ha ha ha, travelling with the family (friends too) usually brings a bit of a complication, especially if people are spread all over the place and trying to arrange for everyone to be in one location at a set time ii) I have come across sudoku puzzles that are easier :P

Hope it all irons out David 8D

:D the fact that the little monkeys keep face timing me with views of the resort does help either when it's blowing a gale here and getting ready to snow !!

Maybe buying them iPads for Christmas was a bad idea :D

David -- one word of warning against holding multiple flights on same day/times etc.

A few years ago I got Flight Centre [UK] to hold a flight for me on a Saturday flying the following Tuesday [I had this on hold because I needed to contact a couple of clients to make the trip "worthwhile" --- a P/E return to Shanghai] Managed to make contact with my clients overnight Saturday and wanted to go-ahead and confirm/book Sunday, Flight Centre had not informed me that they had a new policy and no longer opened on a Sunday, Monday was a bank holiday so had no choice but to book direct with Virgin and sorted out hotels via hotel website.

Flew out all OK and managed to check in for the return, was sitting in the lounge when I received a call from my wife who had been contacted by Virgin from China at 03.30am UK time, VS informed her they had been trying to contact me without success but I would not be allowed to fly that day, cut a long story short, they had the two bookings mixed up, I stood at the departure desk for over two hours whilst they tried to tell me I had not flown out with them and could not fly back with them because I had not paid for my ticket, I gave them booking reference and showed my flight stub, but to no avail --- eventually after all other passengers were on board I was allowed to fly, I later received an apology and a few thousand miles, but no explanation [It was obviously the double booking from the conversation at the desk]
So beware too many bookings --- I for one will never hold flights again!

Airlines used to be very hot on this.
Every on hold flight is blocking another passenger booking and giving the airline unrealistic expectations of how busy a particular flight will be. And we know what airlines do when they think a flight will be busy...

That said, I am sure they factor this kind of thing in but I know one airline that cancels all bookings it identifies as dupes.

Wow, after a very stressful few days, many different routings and payment methods, I found the last seat on the VS015 on Friday.

Website fell down and had to phone a fantastic member of Virgins staff, who sorted everything in a few mins.

Even she couldn't believe a Z was available 4 days before departure :D , so no multi stops, multi airlines and even more stress, just a hop down to LGW, a relax in the Clubhouse and straight into Orlando. y)

Thanks for all your help and views y)

David

(Just wondering what will be thrown at me now - probably the weather after this mornings blizzards :0 :0 )
