UC reward seats to LA next Xmas

The one way cash fares for UC LHR to LAX were £6k each when I looked. It cost 300k miles for all of us.

Returns now down to a more reasonable £3,200. Though I see a one way from LAX to LHR on the 9th Jan is >£4,000!

How are you planning to get from LA to San Francisco?

Night tour might do very well especially as is just Richard, DD would be terrified so I will stay at hotel with room service with her. Thanks for the tip!

I second Tonty's recommendation to take the night tour and to book early. It can get very atmospheric on the island and on the trip as the mist rolls in, so not recommended for those of a nervous disposition. It can also get cold, even if the day has been warm. A few pictures from a day in August a couple of years ago at the tail end of this TR.

The night tour (in winter) is a bit of a misnomer as it's really a late afternoon / early evening tour setting off at about 4.00PM (later in the summer). I've done it in November and it only really got very dark late into the visit but the view of the city lights was worth it.

I would say is 'atmospheric' rather than scary (no one pretending to be a prisoner jumping out at you like at the London Dungeon for example) but I would say that the 'night' tour it is not for very young children (e.g. there is only the one boat back for example so you are stuck on the island until then).

Either way 2k for upper is great and I'm thrilled.....especially for night flight. Planning on flying to SF early on 4th to get a full ish day there. Thre are some United flights out already but I think southwest may load too. Or virgin America. Think it's too soon for the cheaper airlines.
