6kg is stupidly low, yet BA's 23kg + personal item is worse. Flew out with them yesterday and we incurred a delay just in stowing baggage and placing excess in the hold/club wardrobe.

10-12 kg + handbag/manbag would be sensible.

Yes, it has happened to us twice once at Heathrow, once at JFK.

We went to the check in desk to collect our boarding passes, and when we said we had no luggage to check in, the agents asked us to put our hand luggage on the scales. As they were each over 6kg she made us check them in.

I believe that the only way to circumvent this is by printing your BP at home/using mobile BP's and going straight to the gate, bypassing check in desks.

Also had hand luggage weighed twice both times in Upper flying out of LHR, both times it was requested by a supervisor/overseer standing behind check-in staff --- I was under so wasn't a problem.

This is the most important thing in my opinion too. This is the foundations of the company! Don't lose sight of it with serving fancy drinks etc.

After this though, I'd say the American meals onboard USA -> UK flights need improving as the quality on UK -> USA is far suprerior.

I would agree with this - meal I had in October from IAD to LHR was really the most vile plate of slop ever had in the air. AF can deliver stunning food (as one would expect from the French) so maybe VS need to find a niche in doing the same.

Proof positive that VS read this site and take notice I wonder...

Economy and PE are the same though, tbh I have never had any issues with hand luggage in UC before, (another unofficial policy finally put into writing perhaps :? ) Economy on the other hand ):

Good spot David. 8D

A couple of pet hates:

When phoning to upgrade from Premium to Upper using airmiles I'm always told there is an additional 'tax' of £60...it's not tax, it's Virgin charging an admin fee to cover the cost of the lounge (fair enough) and the ticket change.

Stop banging on about APD until you've rolled the Fuel Surcharge into the fare. The 'surcharge' is more than the TOTAL cost of the fuel (per passenger, assuming 80% occupancy) to fly to the US - haven't Virgin heard about about aviation fuel futures/options/hedging?
