First it was NZ, now it's AC, Air Canada. It begs the question whether or not VS actually holds the rights to the UCS and whether other airlines will follow and use this seat design.

Odd really. I reckon VS sold off the rights to its design or somthing.
Nice colour scheme, but it looks a little bit cramped with a very narrow aisle.

They aren't copying- VS dont own the rights to the seat- it is owned by Contor Aircraft Seating- who seem to be selling it to other carriers- which is fair enough. Its no different to the old UC seat being used by other carriers.

I would imagine that in the agreement between VS and Contor (or was it conddor or something) they will have agreed that the suite can't go with any major rivals- so BA,UA etc.

The interest on the seat shows that VS clearly made a good decision and I am sure they will be flattered by the interest.

that does not look like the Upper Class Suite to me - more like a copy of the idea - but a different design.

It looks like a reclining seat - rather than the flip over design on the suite, plus a smaller table by the looks of things.

They've had it on the cards for quite a while (been promising it for years), but it has indeed started rolling out I believe.

Unfortunately, my (Montreal/Toronto) routes won't see it for quite a while, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Now all they need to do is change the food more regularly than once a decade; swap the cabin crew; change the attitude of the entire airline - Then I'll be happy... [y][:p]

(What a pretty sight those maple leaves were in that graveyeard on Tuesday... [}:)])

From looking at the artists impressions, it looks like a variant of the UCS to me, even down to the original style of reading lamp, so I guess it will be a Contour design. I wonder if they will replace that reading lamp with something better, taking into account VS' experiences with it?

I must say, I rather like the look of the EOS seat, especially the facing forward aspect, rather than facing into the aisle... I'm hoping some more airlines that are due a refurb of their premium cabins (like UA, when they get out of Ch11, supposedly next year) go down that route.

Cheers,
Mike
