....Anchorage and Austin from SFO. Sensible move I'd argue, there's not huge competition on those routes and it's about time VX started to punch their weight on more niche routes.
Alaska...a place on my bucket list...very tempting

Yeah, me too. My friends and I have long talked of doing a road trip up there, and my girlfriend wants to do a cruise up there....either way, I'll get there somehow.
Ooooo Austin.
Somewhere on my bucket list after some friends moved there a few years back.
Of course there is the usual visit us offer in the Xmas card.. maybe this year I will

This is getting more and more tempting ... to switch or not to switch, that is the question. Austin is a fantastic route for SF techies.

I just switched all my flying to United

Ultimately, as you know, being in SF it makes little sense to be with anyone else, especially from a redemption point of view. I'll miss the clubhouse though.

its a bit too far for us for a road trip, just on 5000 miles according to mapquest :0

If I remember my O Level Geography then either anchorage or Juneau are only accessible by plane and boat with no roads other than within the city.

I believe Highway 1 (Alaska HWY) will take you to Anchorage.
about 1200 miles of it..that must be a heck of a drive

Juneau is indeed only accessible by plane or boat. Anchorage has highways connecting to Seward, Fairbanks and I can't remember where else, as well as a railway link to Fairbanks.

It was the same for me ...
I've now gone AA/BA, it's working well for me even with the occasional extra connection. I never mind an extra flight or two myself

Yet, now that I'm in T3 so much I'm hankering for the CH more and more. I do BOS, NY, SAN and SEA primarily in the US, and DFW/AUS every now and then. I think I could make VS/VX work again. Redemptions are a major issue, *A is actually excellent even without considering the UA position in SF. The flexibility we had when booking our trip to Oz last November was just great.
