So it is with a heavy heart I ask the question - is it worth it?

I have been FC silver for the past 2 years. I need another 4 TPs by 31st March to remain silver. If the timing had been different I would have done a couple of Manchester trips to maintain my status.

However, my holiday in September means I have a couple of BA trips pending (no alternative available) to add to my BA Bronze(!) status. I have changed jobs which means I am no longer going to add anything from a business perspective. In fact just asking the question has made me realise that there is not much point in doing a quick hop over the pond to maintain my status as I don't think there is a huge amount of benefit. Had it been the difference in keeping Gold then I would have definitely done it. Am I missing something - or do I just accept the downgrade to red and smile sweetly when I next do my MCO run in October time?

Personally I wouldn't go out of my way to retain silver status, for me it simply doesn't offer enough in the way of benefits to warrant a TP run.

No, it's not. Ag is certainly not worth going out of your way to keep (or get even), aside from the extra miles the benefits are pretty worthless.

Silver really isn't worth it, in my view. Nice to have it if you acquire it, but not worth a special effort.

I agree - I am at Ag status and will only manage to retain my status due to the Xmas promotion of extra tier points - I would not go out of my way to try to maintain this status. Surely this is wrong v(

There isn't much on offer with silver is there.
I've recently acquired it and was quite excited when I did until I realised it really isn't worth that much.
As mentioned in a recent thread surely it's about time some extra benefits were introduced such as CH visits to at least give silvers something worth having

Thanks for the comments - I think you have all confirmed what I thought - it just isn't worth it. Shame really - maybe one day in the future it will be different!

I suppose VS Silver is slightly similar to BA Bronze - extra miles and also use of premium check-in (VS - premium and BA - business). Extra miles are good for getting closer to reward flights and the use of non-economy check in is useful (particularly at some airports where economy check-in queues can be very long). Would I do an nip over the pond to keep it - I doubt it is worth that sort of money.

I see VS Ag as roughly BA bronze, and VS Au as roughly BA Ag (although VS Au is a bit better in its benefits).

However, the real bonus of BA bronze is that the OW Ruby status means you get things like priority security when flying (e.g.) AA, and also the ability to choose decent seats free of charge on AA flights.
