Mostly due to the high number of special assistance pax and the amount of hand baggage that had to be taken off pax at the boarding door as too large and too many items, tagged and sent down to the hold. Both of which can delay departure.

Surely with VS' measly 6kg hand luggage limit, the check in and gate agents should be policing this so it's not an issue when passengers actually board?

You'd be amazed the size if the wheelie bags that somehow make it to the aircraft. I did one last month and we had twenty wheelies that we had no room for and were oversized that had to be offloaded!

We are flying that route on March 6th, I really hope the check in staff get their act together. This will be our first time with VS, we have flown BA & Delta in previous years (only stopped because BA no longer fly LGW to MBJ)& had no delays with either of those airlines. What is your basis for the poor performance quote?

you can google to obtain the flight performance stats---since Dec it has achieved only 0.6 stars out of a possible 5--and this is supposed to be a scheduled flight !

Oh dear, we too are flying to Jamaica later in the year. I have booked the v-room though so if we are delayed at least we will be in comfort and can sit and drink tea all morning! Its amazing why so many people use wheelie trollies as hand luggage - I take as little as I can to save carrying it all around the airport! Each to their own!

Once you get stuff stolen out of your checked luggage you will take as much valuable stuff as you can on board. I got already ipad's and all stolen from US>Uk flights so i try to take all cameras/electronics etc. on board.

What site is this?

Some of them are very unreliable.

How do they score if a flight is on-time or not?

Looking at the schedules in the tool box the flight was more than an hour late 4 times out of 26 flights in December and January but arrived early 7 times in the same period.

I'd call that a pretty good record.

I think ul find the large number of deportations that take place on this route and the disruption they can cause are responsible for a fair bit
