When we booked the departure time was about 10 am and when I looked recently it has changed to 1.30pm, we are not frequent virgin flyers and I assumed that the flight times don't usually changed, is this normal?

Yes -- this does happen, it is a seasonal change. I got caught by it the other way round, which was a real pain.

Why they can't load the correct times before they offer the flights for sale, I don't know... v(

I use the VS19/20 a few times a year visiting friends and have always found the 0945 Winter slot better than the normal 1100 slot y)

Arriving into SFO in the early afternoon makes the drive to Lake Tahoe far easier getting there at around 1800 :D

I am travelling on the VS19 in August and to be honest I am not looking forward to the 1300 slot arriving into SFO at 1605 I will be hitting a lot more traffic over the Bay Bridge and through Sacramento, a long day for me I guess ][|)

Further update.

I have just received another email from VS informing me the VS019 has now been rescheduled for my flight in August from 1300 to 1220, the VS20 is still showing as a 1945 departure from SFO.

I have just checked my booking to confirm I accept the changes and it no longer states which type of AC we are flying on, it had previously stated a B744.

Just received an email / text to say that my outbound flight LHR/SFO has changed time again. VS019 at the end of May, this is the 2nd time in a couple of months they have changed the time of the flight. We have already pre selected our seats in UC (on good advice from here) are they likely to change the plane? The flight has been brought forward an hour = 1 hour less in the clubhouse!!!

I think VS are re-jigging their LHR slots a lot at the moment due to the integration of the Little Red operation, and trying to get the optimal connection times to/from long haul.
