Hi all

We are traveling on the vs003 in July in PE and returning on the vs086, just looked online at Virgin are now selling UC on the vs003 for a extra £200 each.

Trying to sell the extra cost to my husband. We have flown UC on our last 4 trips and going to miss it this time.

I have read a few trip reports about the cabin in UC not been as good on the new airbus and with a 9.30 departure (not much time in the clubhouse) how can I sell this to my husband as this trip is getting expense (I don't do anything cheap ;) )

Is it really worth the extra cost, I would still book a lounge and was thinking the no 1 so that is £60 already. Or do I save the money.

Would loved to have travelled back UC but the cost is way out of our price range

Sorry for this being long winded, but as you say once you have turned left there is no going back

All opinions welcome

Thanks in advance

Sharon

Personally for £200 I would take it before someone else does.

You never know the extra miles and TP's may come in handy later.

You could always say that you want an impartial view of the UCDS for your own trip report.

Good luck.

Hi Shaz72,

As an alternative have you ever considered applying for a Natwest Black Card?

Has a fee of £250pa but offers free lounge access worldwide [Priority Pass] for yourself and another cardholder, I use this 20+ per year, coupled with green flag recovery and travel insurance, including winter sports -- [the snow was great in Italy last week!] I think its a bargain for any regular traveler. :)

how much were your original PE tickets?

A £200pp one-way upgrade to UC is excellent. However the overall value will depend on whether you've got cheap-ish PE tickets in the first place.

Thanks for your replies so far

Clarkeysntfc we paid £1240 each for PE back in September, it is now coming in at £1450 UC on the VS003 and PE back on the VS086, I presume that I can just ring up and change and pay the difference?

International Hitman, thanks the info, but we travel only once / twice a year and already get travel insurance through my bank.

£200 is a good price, especially if you wouldn't already have Clubhouse access via a gold card. But I take your point about not having long in the Clubhouse -- also, your overall cost does seem quite pricey, but I guess that's the Vegas leg at that time of year.

Difficult call -- remember that PE on the new Airbus is very comfortable, certainly adequate for a 7-hour flight. So if you don't go for it, you'll still have a good flight, I'm sure. :)

Given the price you have paid for PE adding 200 for UC one way is a bargain relative to normal UC prices! Just book It and don't tell your husband until you arrive at the airport! I'm sure he won't mind after he is sipping his first drink in the clubhouse!! :)

Might this depend on the class of the ticket?

So "very restricted and non-refundable, but some changes can be made for a fee". Worth a call to ask.
