It looks like the H class is now upgradable with miles, although I have not heard of anyone who has actually upgraded a H fare yet, anyone out there?
The VS website T&C's for upgrades (link), still show that it is only S & W fares, but when you are actually doing the booking, and you get a H fare, it says it is upgradable with miles. This is leading me to believe, not for the first time, that the VS site is out of date with it's information, but quite easily the text stating it is upgradable with miles could be wrong also.
Be good to get some clarification on this point.
Neil
I am booking later today so will let you all know.
Difference between Economy M and PE H is about £200 which will save me 25,000 miles in upgrades. Fingers crossed!

Please let us know how it works out, it would be very good if H is upgradable, as it offers roughly a £200 saving over an S fare on a SFO flight and apart from 25% less miles and 2 less TP's, for your average pax, is pretty much the same as an S fare in terms of restrictions/changes (and fee's).

I would love it if H were upgradeable (I have an upcoming sector in that code!), but I fear this is an error in the booking system because the flying club pages are pretty unambiguous. Also, it would go against the principle that you get the maximum TP available in your cabin when on an upgradeable fare.
Still, fingers crossed.

Wonder if H is compatible with the companion voucher??
Well the T&C's clearly state not, but then they say H is upgradable with miles and it appears it is.
I've asked on the VS FB page, let's see what they say!!
Well Greg has replied saying that the H fare code is not upgradable with miles and that is an error if it says it is.

Oh I know what you are saying is correct, as I have seen it myself, but Greg has confirmed that it must be an error as only S & W are upgradable.
Personally, I'm not 100% sure he is correct, as I find it strange they offer H as a searchable fare on the upgrades page, and I am thinking his information may be out of date/incorrect.
Hopefully you will be able to do the upgrade and then that will clarify it and I can point out to Greg he was wrong.

Just had an "online" chat and have been told by VS
"Thanks for your patience Billy. This is a new booking class for Premium Economy but is not able to be upgraded using miles. I've just been informed that the website is displaying this information incorrectly unfortunately and is in the process of being amended."
I should have booked and forced it through really.

Good luck.
Please let us know how you get on with the upgrade as I have a LHR-SYD return in H and would love to upgrade to UC if available.
Many thanks Dominic.

After a bit more pushing, Greg has double checked and confirmed that the H fare code definitely is not available for upgrades with miles and that the website is wrong and is in the process of being updates.
What a shame the website being wrong v( .
Thanks anyway.
Thanks anyway.
Checked the intranet which says that they know it's incorrect but the next site update is in about two weeks so it'll have to wait until then.
Ended up booking with a very helpful agent.
Suggested PE to J o/b and Y to J i/b as I wanted to conserve some miles. £1036 all in + 35k miles.

Given that they know it is wrong and have admitted in public that they know it is wrong they should jolly well correct it now and not wait.
Things like this are what will get them in trouble with trading standards!
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
I have emailed the conversation just in case it turns out Greg, and two res agents are wrong.
It is odd that the class is selectable during the booking process for upgradable fares.

Yes, I pointed that out to Greg, just another error apparently.

Just one of several on the website (along with broken links). even when you point them out they don't put them right.

As per my post earlier, I am not surprised -- but it is a pity.
Why can the site only be updated in two weeks?!? :0 v(

The tape drive in the Atari Commodore is currently patched to the Sinclair ZX81, updates are not easy, however I have heard a rumour that the new Amstrad is being installed in two weeks time

On the 'phone it sounded like they were using antiquated systems. Kept quoting "roughly" prices, waiting for the system to calculate. Which is really weird as I used to use Worldspan Power Pricing and that was fast as anything.
I've noticed that when I phone about upgrades the agents usually have to resort to manual calculation, especially if you are pricing up individual sectors of an itinerary. I had a chat with one of them about it once and she said that the system was telling her what the total fare should be, but she was having to check the booking to see what I'd already paid, and was then using a calculator to work out the difference. Normally, she said, she would put you on hold whilst she did this.
The other odd thing that strikes me as odd is that ticketing seems to be separate from booking, hence the 24+ hour wait after changes. Once, the agent forgot to take the miles from my account (and you'd think that would be automatic too), and so ticketing rejected the upgrade, and it was only when I called back to query it that they noticed what was wrong and resubmitted it.
