Hello from Club America at MIA

Bit grim isn't it. Even the super friendly check-in guy said "you're not going to like it" and my better half has described it as looking like a cheap furniture store. Don't care greatly- just had a great few days in South Beach staying at the Mondrian and being entertained by my sister and her friends from Miami.

I've said it before, Miami Airport is a hell hole and the lounge doesn't enhance the experience! n(

Hey DocRo, I see this morning that your flight has been very delayed v( I hope that they put you up in a hotel and didn't keep you in that unsavoury lounge!

ha! Probably one of the most hideous lounge's in existence. That place is long overdue a refurb.

Ouch, what a delay. Does anyone know what the issue is? Kinda interested as I came in on that flight.

The number 2 engine was leaking and couldn't be fixed. Flight rescheduled for 6pm today if fixed. We gave up waiting for Vigin to get hotel sorted and took a taxi to the Surfcomber at about 1-30am . Will make the most of our day in South Beach but need to rebook BA connecting flights to Belfast as we were on separate tickets. Hopefully Amex platinum will pick up the missed connection part.

Sorry to hear about this -- how well was it handled?

Not great but we didn't sit it out and just made our arrangements
It's obviously difficult but think it was after 3am by the time everyone was shipped out by which time I had been asleep in Surfcomber for an hour
