MCO Lounge's

Hi

Flying from Manchester to Orlando/Return in June, I've booked the full holiday through Ocean-Florida Holidays (Virgin Atlantic flights + villa).

I was wondering if anyone could recommend lounges at MCO and how best to book them? my wife is a nervous flyer, so going in the lounge would be a good way to distract her and also be a nice end to the holiday, also, as we are returning the rental car to MCO, we are likely to be there well before the flight to avoid any travel problem as we are returning from ST Petes, so would be nicer waiting in a lounge.

As I have not booked through Virgin Holidays I cannot use the Virgin lounges as far as I know.

I am sorry to be bearer of bad tidings, but the only lounge airside in the Terminal Virgin uses is the Delta Crown Room and is only available to Upper Class passengers and Gold Card holders. As the Lounge is used by other airlines (such as BA) ISTBC but I do not think you can pay for entry

What Mrs Buns and I have done when we come back from St Petes is to use either of the resturants in the Hyatt Hotel which sits above the airport. These are away from the hustle and bustle of the airport and allow to have a calm meal before we fly home

Another vote for the Hyatt restaurants. Pay as you eat of course but as Buns says calm and relaxing.

That sounds like an excellent plan Buns, how long before the flight do you leave the Hyatt to go through passport control/security at MCO? we depart 19:00, I've heard a few horror stories about security times at US airports, not been to Florida for 15 years, so things have changed abit since then !!!

It has been sometime since we have eaten in the Hyatt and gone straight to board the plane as, like now, we are heading to the Delta Crown Room after having eaten.

Orlando is always a busy airport so I would give myself an hour before the boarding time ( which. Is about 45 minutes before the flight leaves). That way you will not get stressed getting through the TSA security and when in the satellite terminal after the short monorail ride you can find a quiet area away from the VS gates as this will be full of families all coming home from seeing the Mouse

I have a bit of experience of both options!
Have a AU card so have had access to the Delta Lounge, ok but depends how busy it is at the time you want to use it.
I generally "relax" in the bar at the Hyatt to kill time. The do some decent appetisers and other items depending on the time of day. You can look down on the lines through security to assess any delays and plan my departure accordingly.
Spend some time in there then take your other half through for a coffee airside just before departure.
Enjoy your trip, regardless of the class of travel the return is never the same as the one outbound!

Wow $50 for the pass - I would rather just wait in the main departure gate with the masses then pay $50 to enter the Delta lounge at MCO, not worth it at all IMO.

That is the problem, there is no space.

Another thought is the Outback Stake House - my family and I have spent a couple of hours in there a number of times - it's a nice restaurant and has a great atmosphere with good service.

It's also airside, so you can stay in there until boarding time - thus not having to worry about security etc and how long that might take.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I like the idea of relaxing airside and not worrying about getting the timing right for security control checks.

Sounds like a good way to get rid of the remaining $$$
