We are travelling on the VS004 from New York Premium and seats 18 A & C and H & K are showing not available. Are these seats only allocated at check in or does it mean that someone else has already bagged them?

Many thanks

I'm in the same situation. I have been advised that seats 18 ac def gk are bulkhead seats and priority is given to families with cots. If these are available you need to contact check in staff on day to see if available

I believe (but stand to be corrected) the stated seats are bulkhead seats and are allocated at checkin, so I would pick the best seats you can get and then get to JFK early to try and get them.

Allocation of these (very good) seats is a complete dark art in my experience.

It's my understanding that the middle 3 bulkhead is the bassinet, not the window 2's but I could be wrong.

I've never once seen a baby/family with infant in them, and if I've asked why they're not available at check in I've always received a curt "because they're taken".

The only time I've ever secured 18AC is at JFK when we arrived off a very early connecting flight and were there pretty much when check in opened. At LHR it's always a no-go.

If anyone has any other wisdom about how these are allocated I'd be interested to hear it!

I flew on the 3/4 last December. As my Dad has bad knees we always try and get bulkhead seats just so its easier for him to stretch out or stand for a little bit without disturbing anybody else. We phoned about 2 weeks before departure to request these seats and were told a note would be made but nothing could be guaranteed.

Come olci time for the VS3 seats 18 D & F had been allocated we changed them to 21 H&K as I like to be by a window (although this was a mistake as 21 K has no window of its own just half of the persons in front and half of the persons behind). When we boarded a couple with a baby had seats 18 H&K.

On the way back we again checked-in online and this time seats 18 H&K had been allocated to us. These are excellent seats, I wouldn't say the leg room is that much more but you do have room to be able to get out of the window seat without disturbing the person next to you although personally I found the independent footrests brought to us after takeoff are more of a hindrance than help.

So from the looks of it people travelling with babies get priority, followed by special assistance requests, followed by first come first served at the airport.

Was this on the A330 3-class?

We have allocated 21A/B in PE for the VS9, but if there's no actual window to look out of then I really don't want those seats. I find sitting next to the bare aircraft wall quite claustrophobic v( Unfortunately there are no other seats available to pre-select in MMB.

Yes it was on the A330 LHR to JFK. I can't say I was overly impressed when I sat down and found out.

It's ok once taken off as when in full recline you can see out of the window behind you but as I'm not that great at flying I do prefer being able to look outside during takeoff and landing. Apart from that nothing else to complain about, the pe cabin is amazing on the A330 just keep checking daily to see if you can change or get to the airport extra early if you really need a window seat.

I am on A340-600 so does anyone know what are good seats. I thought the front two seats being 18 A & C and H & K were exit seats and could not be given to children or anyone with mobility issues, but I could be wrong.

Hi gill, flew on dancing queen last nov and had seats 19 h&k which I found fine,I don't think there are many bad seats on this type in PE but obviously stay away from the toilets at the back of the cabin ,the most annoying thing I found was trying to see your screen if the person in front reclines their seat so to avoid this you may want to try getting row 18

Completely agree and it is one thing that really annoys me - I can tell you from experience that I've checked in to be told that 18AB/HK cannot be allocated or are being held back for babies to find out on board that either people checking in behind me had them, or no babies to be seen! I can understand some situations such as when UC is overbooked and invol downgrades are necessary, then they're the next best seats. But really I wish VS would adopt the US model and if no babies on board, allow these to be selected by Au's at OLCI. It can't be that difficult to offer this.

On the 346 in PE I usually go for the window pairs at the Back infront of the toilets. There is a wardrobe between these seats and the toilet so I haven't had any problems with these seats
I think it is row 22?

Row 19 on the A340-600 has no window view as it's just aircraft wall.

If I can't get row 18, row 22 is my favourite row on the 346 as you can recline as you please!

I asked aquestion about PE bulkhead seat allocation on Facebook in the last couple of days. Greg came back with an answer that really was as clear as mud (in my view). :?

You made me think about our seats and I ve just checked photos of the flight and it came back to me that we were very lucky because the person in front didn't recline their seat for the whole flight giving us a window, can you believe that !
Good shout though so gill don't chose these seats

I agree that 22 is the best option to pre-reserve. 18 is good though, I find i can put my feet up and strecth out nicely particularly with no neighbour. I agree with Slinky, there have been times when I have been told 'taken' and on one trip A&C were empty
