The desks are open from about 6am for the first flights, so feel free to check in any time from 6am 8D

I thought you'd have to wait 3hours before departure to check-in?

I'm on VS3042 (1115) connecting at LHR VS1 (1615). I will be doing OCLI but as it goes for bag drop. When can I drop off my bags at Manchester? Will I have to wait until 0915? (3hours before VS3042 takes off).

The whole three hour thing is the recommended check in point for international flights.... hands up who sticks to it :P :P

You can check in when the desks are open, at LHR they are open pretty much all day, so check in whenever. Not sure how long the desks at MAN are open, but I have never been turned away when arriving early in the past... extra time in the CH :P

As your first flight is a domestic flight, there's really no need to be at the airport any earlier than about 1 hour before your flight. The recommended domestic flight check-in time is just 1 hour. MAN T3 security is usually very efficient and I've never had more than a 10 minute wait at security there. The walking time between security and the gates is only a few minutes as well.

It's one of those 'bragging rights' things with frequent flyers though isn't it Joey, just how late you can get away with arriving at the airport and still get on a flight. I've even found myself barely having time for a drink in the CH on my NY runs (despite the best efforts of limo drivers to chivvy me along). And airlines like SQ that publicly state that they board up to 10 mins before departure, well, why would you give them any more than that!

Very evident in my own family holidays these days too, wife and children terrified that we will miss the plane if we're not there hours ahead - me not the slightest bit bothered. Still, that at least plays into my hands when the CH is an option. Not so much fun when waiting for a grotty charter flight though...

Some airlines do not allow you to check in for your flight further than x hours ahead. EasyJet at Stansted used to be strict about this.

I'm planning to go into the Escape Lounge though to get as much time as possible. So I'll be arriving around 3 hours before hand. What times will the desks be open at Manchester?

I would imagine the domestic VS check-in desks will open around an hour or so before the first flight of the day so around 06:00-06:30ish.

It says here that MAN desks open two hours before flights and are in MAN Terminal 3 (not 2)

for LHR they also open 2 hours before with a close 45 mins before (if checking in bags) and 30 mins if hand bags only.
