I want to go to Los Angeles/Vegas, or would fly to San Francisco in August but it seems as though it is incredibly busy during that period and all sold out for 2 reward seats. I have enough miles for the ticket for the 2 of us, as have been saving for a while. Do you know if Virgin release any more reward seats closer to the date? or any other options? thanks in advance

The SFO and LAX routes are popular but with fewer flights than the NY routes there are less Gs. I managed to book 2 Gs last March to SFO but checked daily for 2 weeks before they became available.
You could go into one airport and out of another or buy one (pricey xx() and get one G.
I would suggest you keep a daily check, tedious I know but they may come up nearer the date.
Good luck

The only way I could ever convince myself to NOT do something like this was to buy non-upgradeable fares. Which I did from time to time, especially on the few occasions I flew into BOS. But I can tell you, any time I had an upgradeable ticket, I upgraded. Could never resist.

Well, in case anyone is interested, after three long weeks of fruitless searches, this morning I finally managed to nab those upgrades. £53 for UC.

You were all right -- I was clearly crazy not to grab them the first time... :D
