LHR to Sydney

Trying to get 2 x UC flights with my miles LHR to Sydney. Want to be there for as little as time as possible (strange I know!) but purpose is to watch the British Lions v Australia on Sat 6 July. Preference prob is to go out on the Tues night or Weds night flight, back on the Sunday 7th.

Struggling to see availability with miles, but there is cash availability.

What is the likelihood of more miles seats being released? Can anyong 'in the know' help?

I think for the Sydney flights with miles you need to call the FC line.

I have done the trip twice before with miles, for 3 days in Sydney, my work colleagues thought I was mad...lol

I'd have thought Gs would be few and far between if there's a major sporting event as many people will have the same idea.

You can but keep trying though as reward seats do appear at random.

Gs on the SYD route are tricky as it is a thru route and you will need to find four for a round trip.

The thing to do is check reward availability on each sector.. LHR-HKG, HKG-SYD then back again as opposed to LHR-SYD as that will almost always say no availability.

Are you looking at straight G fares or upgrading cabins?

LHR to HK to SYD is always a difficult and popular route, don't think you will see any Gs whilst the Lions are winning in Aus -- so you need to juggle route, just checked miles availability to Shanghai, currently Gs available for your dates [out 3rd back 7th]-- return flight Pudong to HK a couple of hours and about £250, will need a bit of planning but way easier to get Gs HK to Syd than LHR to SYD -- so with a bit of luck should be possible
