An interesting development this morning. As olci has failed today ... Or at least it's certainly not working on the vs3012 flight, will Edinburgh be ready for a full flight all manually checking in on the inaugural flight?

Not the best start to a brand new route me thinks :?

Morning Sam,

Looking at EF, it gives you Y9 J9 C9 D9 I9 Z9 B9 R9 L9 U9 M0 E0 Q0 X0 N0 O0

Looking at the seat map, (which is unreliable) its anything but full and actually worryingly very empty.

EDI will be OK, in Feb 2013 they had over 500,000 passengers. In all the times we have flown from there (in the hundreds) the longest wait to be checked in and get through security has been around 40 mins.

Perhaps the actual question is will Virgin check in cope if the staffing ratios are based on a certain % having done OLCI.

As you say, EDI in general has been handling aircraft of roughly this size for BA, EZY, Ryanair etc for many a year.

Edited to add:

Do they sell tickets in all classes in the EF analysis on this flight or is there an overstatement of "available" in classes that are not being sold? If not, and it is empty, then this would be a bit worrying. But here, of course, the competition from EDI is greater a those of us north and east of London may be better served (in certain ways) by flying EZY into STN.

Speaking of low loads, the VS3041/3046 rotation was cancelled on Tuesday, low loads?? not a good start...

I believe it was due to a tech issue with the aircraft.

As for low loads, presumably it is to be expected - What route ever starts with full planes?

Oh dear! No-one answering your question. Tut!

EF is the Expert Flyer website which gives the various loads for each seat bucket. In each cabin there are several buckets starting from the cheapest and going up to the most expensive. As the number of the cheaper seats are filled that bucket zeroes out and the fares are then in the next bucket up. For those buying fully flexible fares they buy from the top buckets. Each bucket has a certain number allocated but that is shown only as 9 (or on other websites, 7 or 4). If you see a bucket with, say 5, and the rest are 9 you know that there are only 5 seats left at that fare. If you see a line of 9s, it means the flight is wide open.

Hope this helps |:)

So far so good. Fast track through security was a nice touch. Edinburgh city centre to "clubhouse" 34 mins total - pretty good all round.

.... If only they had a version of the clubhouse in Edinburgh - BMI had a lounge and ba already has one... Come on virgin, get keen and purchase ! Service air is ok, but missing the VA 'jazz'.

Alright Sam, good to hear that things are going well so far. Hope the flight delivers too.

A lounge in the Little Red destinations will prob follow in due time, it is all just starting so it does make sense for them to wait and see how it all pans out.

Enjoy the flight 8D

Because if you are flying UC onwards from LHR then the connecting flight could be in the same class. This allows VS to see who gets limo transfers etc at domestic departure point.

Well after all that, a little underwhelming for VS.

No balloons, no donuts, one mention fron the Captain about the inaugral flight and nothing else.

Purple seats and "mood" lighting. There's an opportunity to do much much better.

I doubt the Little Red terminals will get their own dedicated Clubhouses - there's no Upper Class on those flights anyway. The shared lounge facilities seem like a reasonable compromise.

I was thinking of a new style clubhouse.... And there are a fair few pax transferring to PE and UC flights from T3 who may enjoy it

Well probably never going to happen, but if it does.... I called it first. :)
