Having enjoyed UC on this route last month (will get around to a TR very soon)we are taking the children to Jamaica in September (6 adults) & have booked PE.

I have a few questions which I hope someone can answer...

Seats upstairs or downstairs that is the question?

What drinks do they serve on boarding - it looks like champagne?

Who disembarks first PE upstairs or downstairs?

Do you get an amenity kit for the night flight home or should we take our own?

Does the menu differ from economy - it looks like the crockery/cutlery does?

thanks, Taffy

The seating question comes around a lot and it highly depends on what you prefer yourself. Some folks like the quiet feel of the upstairs cabin while some don't like the split between PE and Economy. Others like the downstairs cabin in order to disembark quicker but then other trip reports have said that upstairs have disembarked before the downstairs cabin.

It's worth having a look through the other trip reports and hopefully you can gleam some information from them.

Hi taffy, I shall leave the seating questions as I have yet to fly on a refit (I know, I'm slipping people ii) )

Drinks served are typically 'champagne', orange juice or water.. have seen a mix of other random things in the past too.. tea or coffee was my favourite, watching pax struggle with hot drinks as boarding was taking place :o)

Amenity kits are available on request, you just have to ask nicely and they should dig one out for you, they are provided on the night flights though. What items are you looking for?

Menu does differ from Economy, do you like mushrooms? :P

We flew LGW MBJ LGW in PE in February. Downstairs going out and upstairs on the return. Sparkling wine (I'm pretty sure its not champagne), orange juice and water offered on boarding. Even with the new split cabin, IMHO its a better experience upstairs. Having said that, downstairs PE is first to disembark (ahead of UC), and having experienced the queues at immigration in MBJ many times, this is why we chose downstairs. This time, however, we managed to travel on the weekend that the snow storms hit the US and Canada and arrivals was deserted, we were through before we could bat an eyelid!

I have to laugh about the mushroom comment, I'm allergic to them so this year ordered a special "no mushroom" meal (very tasty by the way) having been caught out too many times in the past.
