After our 'last' holiday in October, I now find myself looking at one more holiday in October again flying from MAN to MCO. Looking at our options, I will have 20k miles & DH has 5550miles. I noticed that we can upgrade from PE to upper with 10k miles each way on a K class ticket. So I've priced the PE flights we may consider but now I wonder how do I find out whether miles upgrades are available for the dates we'd like? - we're flexible. I realise that DH will have to buy 15k miles but also wonder whether there is any other cost involved in using miles to upgrade. Thanks for any help.

you can do a dummy 'spend miles' booking for UC and that will tell you if there are any G's available - PE to UC upgrades come out of the G allocation.

ISTBC but I thought only S and W PE fares could be upgraded using miles.

The only other additional costs (other than buying any miles) will be any difference in the VS fuel surcharge. There is no additional APD as the rate in UC is the same as PE

Hi Katie,

If you want a cheaper option than buying miles, try the miles booster. If your flight was up to 6 months ago, so October should just fit in, you can double or triple the miles on that flight for one or both of you if required.

There is no transaction fees and you get 1,000 extra for just doing it before the end of April i believe, hope this helps. Linda :D

Thanks for the replies.
Tontybear - I'll try the 'spend miles' dummy run.
Linda - I didn't earn any miles last holiday as we used up all our miles on 2 'miles' seats & only paid for taxes etc. Oh well. The miles would only cost £240 extra (for 15k miles)for return flights & I have enough for both of us if we can only upgrade one way.

Katie666 - from the K class T&C's :-
"You cannot use Flying Club Miles to upgrade this fare to an Upper Class Reward fare :(

I too was of the opinion it was only poss to upgrade a S or W premium economy fare :?
and these fares will cost significantly more than a K code PE fare.

OK - Thank You for the info. PE it is then unless a sale brings in a spectacular price for UC :).

yes, as linda says..you can use miles booster on redemption flights

Can Miles Booster be applied on redemption flights?
Yes, Miles Booster allows Members the opportunity to earn Miles on redemption flights, allowing you to boost your balance on flights where you would normally not earn any miles
