Hey I couldn't find an answer to this anywhere so thought I'd ask those of you that have had more experience at Terminal 1. Basically I am flying down to LHR from EDI and then straight back to EDI on the next flight out and was wondering if its perfectly fine to remain at the gate after disembarking from the EDI flight. I am not too familiar with Terminal One and didn't know whether or not to book a later flight to allow for going through security again. I wont have any bags or anything... this is purely to get the two tier pints.

thanks guys :)

Welcome to V-Flyer :)

There's no arriving/departing pax segregation in the domestic gate area of LHR T1 so yes, as you leave the A/C you can just sit and wait at the gate for your return flight home :)

Thanks :) was just unsure because last time I was in T1 they took photographs at security and was concerned that I would be denied boarding or something because I didn't ave a photo or something haha :)

The only reason why they take photos of you is because once through security in T1 you are mixing with international pax and to get through to the separate domestic gate area, you have to go through a second check point where they check you are still the same person and haven't swapped your boarding card with an international pax.

As you are staying air-side in the domestic area and cannot get to the international departures area, you do not need this photo check.

Late to the party here but yes, did exactly that on Friday, just walk off the plane, turn right grab a costa and then sit back done at the gate.

Have a look at my TR

Thanks just read it now :) Booked 17th but somehow VS website didn't like me having a 30 minute connection time haha so just went with VS 3006 and VS 3009. Got an hour and a half wait in T1 so guess I'll be taking your advice and have a costa haha thanks guys :)

Only small issue is that return points / miles haven't posted but outbound have. Emailed VS who should hopefully sort them out.

Ahh thats a bit annoying. Hope that doesn't happen to me as the points are the sole purpose of this trip. Switching to VS since bmi is no longer here and I am not the hugest fan of BA :)

It's probably down to a small 1st day glitch. When checking in, the machine coughed and one of the VS bods had to get it going again. It printed both the boarding passes at once, which was good, but maybe the reset was the cause of the problem.

I'm sure they will post in the next few days.

Have you tried the online manual claim miles system? It credits your account there and then for VS flights. I always use that rather than waiting for my miles to credit automatically.

Thanks James, have tried, but through up an error about booking reference. Went to the contact page and online help arrived. She tried (and failed) and advised me to email in.

On the way down, the loads were that light everyone was shifted to the middle, on the way back to EDI, the plane was pretty full although the front 2 or 3 rows weren't used

Hey so I am doing my same-day return to LHR tomorrow; however, OLCI will only let me check in for the outbound flight and not the inbound. Was wondering how if anyone knew how I am to check in for my inbound flight as virgin have told me that I can only check in after my outbound but check in closes 2 hours before my flight? thanks

When I checked in for my flight down to LHR from EDI at the airport machines, it printed both boarding passes for me.

I had his same issue when I wanted to check in for my return flight when I checked in for my outbound flight on the Manchester inaugural.....I simply asked at the check in desk and though a little shocked I was returning 45mins after I had arrived they sorted it quickly and I left the desk with two boarding passes!!
