That's in Antigua for anyone unfamiliar, and also has the dubious distinction of being the only VS shared lounge I've visited overseas to actually apply the 1 guest rule strictly and actually charge for my children to come in. But with the fun I'd had already at check in, I guess it was just to be expected.

Anyway, several rum and cokes in progress, so gradually chilling again. And more detail to follow when I'm back in the cold and wet of Blighty. But for now, here's a question... what is the pecking order when it comes to selecting people for downgrades (or bumping) when the flight is oversold? from my experience just now, it's certainly nothing to do with FC status, at least not until you turn on the DYKWIA act (yes I know, what am I like... :| ). guessing it may be more to do with revenue class of ticket, but then again, perhaps it's a lottery.

before the other obvious question is asked, yes I did TRY and do OLCI, but kept getting the message to go to the airport instead...

Order of check-in maybe - ie last to check in, first to be bumped?

Or maybe you're right - it could just be random, particularly in the remoter out stations.

In such a circumstance, I think you were absolutely right to play the gold card. I think some AUs demand too much (the expectation to be greeted by name, for instance, really does smack of DYKWIA syndrome), but some degree of preferential treatment when things go wrong seems perfectly reasonable.

Try the lounge in Havana... They don't even let you guest one person in. However, sounds like you've had a nightmare all in all and one id find it hard not to have major sense of humour failure to.

Hope you have a good flight back and depending which weather forecast is to be believed it may or may not be warm and sunny tomorrow

Would that be warm, sunny AND 30 degrees? :-)

Feeling a bit better now, actually on the plane and esconced in 14A, which I suspect is about as good a PE seat as you can get. Acres of legroom...

No sign of the cushions, but I think I'll cope! Actually I noticed that the amenity kits seem to be identical to UC (the small ones with the button fastener).

Ready to go now, so must switch off 458 pax on board, really full today!
