So after been asked if the captain could have a photo with me on my southbound Little Red flight on Thursday, only to discover he didn't want his photo taking with me but with Roy Hodgson who was on the flight.....I was hoping for a straight-forward return flight today northbound.......how wrong was I :0

So boarded "Queen of the Cobbles" at 1240 and all was well, just 30 passengers on VS3047. The captain announced a couple of minutes delay as the aircraft had been late in...no problem.

Cut a long story short, in the minutes following a "scratch" was found on the outside of the aircraft and it would need investigating. Safety first and all that, no problems. It was finally decided at 230pm, so nearly two hours sat on the aircraft that it needed repairing and we would all be taken off and would board "Tartan Lassie" which should have been going to Aberdeen.

I will say though it was nearly two hours of waiting, the captain kept us very well informed and the CC served water and juice.

So back into the terminal and waited around 20mins for the crew to switch planes, for the aircraft to be re-catered etc.....so boarded "Tartan Lassie" and my word what a different aircraft......legroom was tighter ( I was in row 19) and the seats narrower and the seats do not have adjustable headrests like on "Queen of the cobbles".......not sure why the Little Red aircraft would have been refurbished differently but they have n(

The CC even were saying "she is not as nice as our one".......I will say real qudos to VS for operating the flight even very late, as they could have cancelled it and made everyone wait for the 1715 departure oo)

It did mean the poor folks going to Aberdeen had their flight cancelled and were told they had to wait until 2015.....though vouchers were being handed out to the affected passengers.

So we finally departed at 1538 and headed northwards.....usual service and a friendly crew who were clearly tired so well done to them.

To add a final bit of spice, on the approach to MAN the weather was appalling, strong winds and driving rain and just as we were about to touch down we were thrown back into our seats and performed a go-around. The captain was on quickly to say that "significant cross winds had forced him to lose airspeed and decided to perform a missed approach"

The second approach was not much better though we made it safely down. Some people were complaining about the delay, but these things happen and no-one was to blame as such and VS handled the issue well, the senior crew member as we left thanked everyone personally for their patience.

So a strange Saturday but all turned out well......shame about "Tartan Lassie" which even had an entertainment controller in the armrest. She did have mood lighting and the brown seats....even if they were different and were narrower and legroom tighter....... n( v(

Thanks for reading.

I see that "Rosie Lee" has been called into action to help out......though it seems "Queen of the cobbles" is fixed now which is good ^)

Sorry to hear of your delay, we have just returned LHR-MAN on Tartan Lassie - had a text earlier to advise our 20:45 would be delayed so we managed to move to the 17:45. Will post more later/tomorrow, currently on the train, but all round great service from VS today from our point of view.

I think the reason for the difference in the interior is that Tartan Lassie was one of the planes returned from Meridiana and was refitted n a different place from Queen of the Cobbles
