Really?! Damn. Has anything replaced it as that's leave a big hole in the middle of everything surely?

Cheers for the heads up though as I wanted to go see Fat Elvis again!

Coldgin,
Bills certainly is closed, was in Vegas 2 weeks ago. Ah the memories of me and big Elvis (Ive got the certificate he gives out when you perform with him :D )
Another place getting refurbed is The old Imperial Palace, a major revamp and the casino I have to say is looking pretty smart. I dont believe they have started on the rooms yet though.

Thanks again everyone for all the helpful tips and opinions,it's what makes this site so good. I will have to do some serious thinking before I make a decision . They all sound great so it really does come down to location I think.
Joey, unfortunately one of my friends is a bit tied with his holidays at work and has 2 weeks booked in the middle of August so it has to be then, c'mon get yer self out there !

Hey!

I went last September and stayed at the mirage! I walked through many hotels and the mirage i found was brilliant in the way of layout! You didn't have to walk a mile to your room like most hotels! Also inside they have 1oak and revolution nightclubs which are great and also are close to a lot of main hotels. I booked mine through virgin holidays. Check out trip advisor for pictures and reviews!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I loved Bill's.

Are you sure you are not getting confused with O'Sheas being closed and the dwarf with the megaphone having moved to somewhere else (I thought that was to Bills)?

The place I would be recommending because of its price and location is closed now, The Imperial Palace. Sure, its not top notch, but its location centre strip is excellent and I'd much rather have a 24 hour burger bar and Hash House Agogo over all the fancy designer shops of the posh ones.

I stayed at the Bellagio too, and found that kind of wasted on me, the room was the same, perhaps smaller than the IP and it's a significant walk from your room to anywhere else on the strip (walkways etc).

One thing, for sure, its don't fall into the Brit trap: booking Circus Circus or Stratosphere, which are miles away and total dives ("I've heard people say 'but its cheap', yes it was (for a week), it was 1 quid less than staying in Imperial Palace, and 5 quid less than staying in the Flamingo or Harrahs.

Personally I'd recommend against staying down the south end: MGM, New York New York, Excaliber, Mandelay Bay, Tropicana or Luxor. Its not midstrip, its one far end. The centre allows you walk down that way, or go the other way up to the rest of the hotels...

Bills closed Feb this year but will not be knocked down. It's currently being gutted to be reopen as a modern "boutique" casino hotel. Hope it doesn't lose any of it's quirky charm that I loved.

Yeh it is sad :( At least Freemont casinos still give a bit of an insight into early days Vegas.

I'm a big fan of the Mandaly Bay and The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, I have taken a Suite at both in the last four months.

It offers great views of the Strip and the Airport if you're that way inclined.
Although the drinks from the bar are expensive if you're not gambling we went to a couple of concerts in the House of Blues which is ideally located and staggering distance from the elevator banks.

Wherever you decide I don't think you'll fail to have a great time with your mates in Vegas.
