Hi there,

Wonder if anyone can help... With flight to Orlando, on B747 LGW, just selecting seat - I like the back rows of the 747 as I like the space between the seat and window. But I know the crew sometimes work front to back on the meals and you get the last choice of food on the a340/330 at the back - is this the case with the 747 aswell? As I am a bit of a picky eater and whilst I accept they can't have a choice for anyone I don't want to only have the one choice.

I know the answer might be to just choose the front, but if the back isn't last on the 747 I wouldn't mind as I like the back rows!

Cheers guys.

Yes they serve from front to back.

You could always pre-order a special meal - in which case you'll be served first - or just eat at the airport, get a much nicer meal and decline to eat on the plane.

The other drawback to the back seats is you'll be last off at MCO and potentially have a long, long wait at immigration. I would always go as far front as possible on any US-bound flight.

Why don't you try and get seats up in the bubble? You get the extra side bins between the window and seats, giving the feeling of a bit more space, and as there are so pax upstairs you are served quickly and unlikely they will run out of choices.

Plus, you get to be one of the first people off the a/c, so it's a win win.

Agreed with Neil, bubble seats are the way to go. y) y)

Food choice shortage is unfortunately common, as gumshoe says there is always the option of eating beforehand or ordering a special meal (not to everyones' taste) There is a third option of popping into the myriad shops at LGW and fixing yourself up a picnic basket to make all the other pax and crew envious..... any food they give you will be a bonus then :P

Enjoy 8D

As the others have already said, I would sit as far forward to the front as possible if you need to get away from the airport as soon as possible. If however, that isn't so much of a problem and you would rather be comfortable in the seats you know at the back of the plane, then go for it!

Depending on your flight, you could always stock up on a large breakfast to keep you going or a large lunch and as above, take a few snacks with you to keep you going.

It *might* be worth speaking nicely to the crew on the day and asking if they can keep a preferred meal behind but I certainly wouldn't count on that being an option! The special meal could be an option and possible worth a phone call to CS and they could possibly let you know what is on the menu?? I've not done this before but other V-Flyers may be able to advise??

I tried asking customer services what's on the menu for my flights in May only to be told that the menu is on a rotational basis and the example menu is shown on their website.

I have instead opted to fill up a the airport and take some snacks on board with me. If I get something edible then that's a bonus, if I don't, I won't starve.

A positive I've found from being at the rear at MCO is you are last to car hire desk.

Why you ask, well, if you book an economy car, decline all upgrades - and likely end up in a full size rental FOC as its all thats left if its a "busy" set of flights in.

Your milage may of course vary - but for myself/wife on our disney trips we always pick the rear.
