What's the best flight va offers in terms of - typical aircraft/ distance/ flight time / destination/ arrivals airport/ clubhouse ...

I'd say vs3 is prob my recommendation ... Not too long and usually a decent aircraft. Jfkis not too bad at lunch ... Afternoon is generally worse.

Thoughts?

The 201 from HKG on a Friday. Late flight so plenty of time to enjoy the superb CH there (usually allowing for an after work drink or two as well). Long enough flight so I can actually get a bit of sleep, and gets in nice and early the next day.

My favourite by a long shot, and if it were on a 744, it would be perfect.

The 201. Brilliant Clubhouse. A346 - the best. :D Dinner at the airport. Dinner on board. A film. A decent sleep. No holding on approach. Empty immigration. Empty Revivals. y)

Third vote in a row for the 201 ---- followed closely by the 250, easily the best round trip combining the two flights.
Heathrow clubhouse for several hours, afternoon flight into the night, arriving Shanghai early morning and straight to work. Work throughout the week heading to HK via Shantou and Shenzhen.
As stated by at240 the HK clubhouse is superb, always welcoming, also agree the A346 is the best.
I do this trip regularly and its the above that makes it feel more like a holiday than a work trip --- I actually miss it when I havent been for a few months, :)

Have to agree with Boston here.
It is now my gateway in to the East Coast USA.
Always a nice easy time through immigration, nice time in the evening where you can get back to your hotel, nice drink and sleep already for the next day.
On the way back, full day in the office, short trip to the airport. When you land nice little visit to revivals. The car / train / tube back in to London.
Both times in the air are not that bad. Have to say have not seen the HK so this is just IMO.

It's a really good flight -- especially in UC. You can relax in the CH after a day's work, and then fly east... and the wonders of Hong Kong await you. y)

Ahhh another vote for the VS201 (HKG CH is the best.. service amazing and people watching from the balcony is just brilliant)

Close second the VS25 - timing wise not bad as long as you don't go out having fun straight after landing - it will destroy you come the morning :P Nice leaving time from LHR and gives a good stay in the CH - Grey goose lounge anyone? :P

Third place is tied for me dependant on the class of travel.. first up VS46 in UC in the nose, otherwise I would say the VS4. Both of them are good timing wise and I do like the JFK CH staff, ending with revivals being a welcome sight after a night flight.

The LHR - NYC used to be a common place for me so that is why that route dominates my top 3 - VS201 was from my travelling days a few years back, back when there were 2 VS flights a day from/to HKG and the cabins were not as packed... ahh memories 8D

Delighted to see vs 201 and 200 as flying both legs in July , have booked exit seats both ways - have any members experienced these seats as I am yet to be advised of exact exit row - thanks :)

201 & 200 always good..... only gripe is outward is a little late for connecting flights sometimes but landing in HK always a pleasure. Chep Lap Kok a great airport and agree to all comments concerning CH, especially the staff.

Always miss the old landings into Kai Tak mind ..... now that was a landing !!!! Always had to be a starboard window seat for me... Sitting at the old airport and watching some of the "hairy" landings was amazing.

I'm glad to see the HKG CH getting such great reviews my only problem is I only get ninety mins there before on to SYD on the 200 and LHR on the 201 ten days later, still in PE no G's yet.

It'll be row 31 or 51 I presume.

Exit row seats have unlimited legroom (except for A and K which are slightly obstructed by the emergency slide on the inside of the door) and, if you ask for the row closest the front you'll be served first and be among the first off the plane.

But they are narrower than normal economy seats, which you may find very annoying on such a long flight.

They also tend to be near toilets and galleys, and the area immediately in front of them is often used by other passengers as a leg-stretching zone.

So there are pros and cons.
