Two articles linked, much of a muchness for information, however they are saying that Virgin are putting 747s on the GLA-MCO route during the October school holidays giving an extra 2000 seats on the route. Nice to see it thriving. :)

Note the jumbos will be 3-class (compared to existing 2-class A333s). An educated guess is they'll put jumbos on at the Easter holidays as well.

Thanks for the info, was unaware of this. I was just going by the publicity material issued this week. Sorry to be reporting old news.

Great news Fuzzy14 thanks - definitely flourishing and here's hoping more more flights and destinations for Glasgow! LittleRed to LHR would be good too :-)

Even More Jumbos for Glasgow!

Virgin/Glasgow Airport have confirmed that the entire 2014 season will be served by 744s rather than the A333s.

We are losing the G-VKSS & G-VSXY in October when they're getting converted to 3 class config. It also means we'll now have UC cabins for the first time ever/in ages.

The 330's are all being converted to 3 class and as such the GLA-MCO market couldnt support that many J seats... so the 747 will ops all GLA-MCO and MAN-MCO too.

The 330's will then go down to Gatters and operate to BGI.ANU, UVF with increased frequencies to UVF and ANU as per the schedules already published.

:? so does that mean that the 747's will be operating VS27 to MCO from LGW more, or is that just gonna be wishful thinking :-)
(says he hoping VS27 will be just that on 28/04/14 :) )

Assume "winter season" doesn't include Glasgow as we don't have flights Nov-Mar. Or are you suggesting that's going to change?

And that now means 3 jumbos will be arriving at MCO within 60 minutes or less of each other. That's not going to help the queues at immigration...

Sounds good to me.

Wasn't looking forward to a trip on an A333 !
