For clarification spoke to two sets of greeters, one pair that I recognised from previous visits [so not new member of staff/interpretation],I had arrived with two fellow UC passengers, stated I wanted to guest in "friend" travelling that day and tried to leave their details, both greeters stated guest must now must be travelling on same flight, stated rule had been in place about 3 weeks and was a result of invites on social media, specifically mentioning twitter.
Texted v-flyer "friend", apologised and stated new ruling.
Guest did not receive text and called me when he arrived at clubhouse/greeters, I went to meet him to see if I could persuade greeters to allow him entry, a new set of greeters were now on duty and stated same ruling, as I had not heard of this ruling I requested to speak to supervisor who kindly agreed to allow entry but confirmed it was a new ruling. Any other experiences or clarification would be good.

Hmm... from what was posted earlier, International Hitman, it was said that UC passengers could still guest in someone else flying that day. The 'same flight' restriction supposedly applies just to FC AU's guests.

Sounds like there is some confusion.

If BA did this then flyer talk would go into meltdown - physical and mental !!

How would you tell? :D

If this prevents lounges from becoming overcrowded as a result of Delta card holders having access, it's a good thing in my view.

Agree on this. From what I read on v-flyer it seems the CH can get pretty busy as it is.

:? :?

News to myself... oh well looks like those bean counters strike again.

Got to say I think it is a fair move, and actually a bit surprised it hasn't been done sooner.

Only AU guests I have taken in thus far have been on the same flight, so I cannot see this affecting me too much. Might scupper things for some on the VF board though - sorry people :P

I wonder how many DL FFs we will see swanning around the CH in the coming months then.... hmmmm, could that bring the return of the pre-booking of CH spa treatments I wonder ;)

From what International Hitman was told, it sounds like VS have done this as a result of some AU members using Twitter to offer their guest privileges to all and sundry - not in anticipation of DL FFs flooding the Clubhouse.

VS clearly haven't had a problem with V-Flyers discreetly offering their guest privileges to fellow V-Flyers - presumably because we're (hopefully!) all well-behaved, savvy travellers who know not to abuse it, and because there'd rarely be more than one or two a day.

But if some AUs are using Twitter, maybe VS have noticed a rise in the number of guests who are clearly not known to the cardholder and who, sadly, may be abusing the facilities or not conducting themselves in an appropriate manner.

In which case it's an entirely appropriate move.

Oh no :(! Why couldn't they have waited til after our flight !!
Oh well, will have to make do and maybe try the No 1 lounge, no biggie I guess. We are flying PE, will try for an upgrade to UC if there are any deals going nearer or on the day.

Thanks anyway Hull :)

Hi L2H

I have a copy of an email to VS regarding gaining access for your party to the CH and it clearly states we are travelling on separate flights, and them saying it is OK for you to join my wife and I.

Also we are in UC as well as AU so it looks like we can still get you in (according to some of the above comments) hopefully :D

Hi L2H

I think we should be OK as SRH says UC passengers can still guest anyone who is flying on VS that day as long as the guest leaves before the UC passenger (not a problem in our case as your flight leaves before mine).

I have the email from VS stating it's OK and also the conversation with Howard on Facebook that also says it's OK.

I can't see the difference between placing an invite on here or doing it on twitter. We don't know if AUs have been offering there privileges to all and sundry. We V-Flyers could be accused of DYKWIAM. Personally I would support the new policy.

From reading the facebook comments it seems to be suggested that the official policy has possibly been overlooked at the discrection of the CH host on the day. Now that the CH is getting fuller (perhaps due to DL PAX) then the official policy is being upheld. :?

I don't have a problem with VS implementing a new or more strictly enforcing an existing policy but it would help everyone - passengers, their guests but also staff - if they clearly spelt out what the policy is and make sure everyone was aware of it so that staff through out the company could be consistent.

Hmm, more inconsistency ?|

Not good, I will take the email I have from VS customer services with me and see what they say at the door.

I have just checked the Lounge Access Policy (an internal document used by many areas of VS) again.. This is the same document that I checked yesterday.

I'm sorry to report that this has now been updated, as of today, to reflect the new policy.

So the change of policy is now in force, which does mean that any Upper Class or Gold Card passengers can only guest someone travelling on the same VS flight as them. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Yay, only a few weeks. Happy to try but if we are turned away no problem. With the thought of 2 weeks on hols, nothing will wipe the smile off my face :))))
It was always a bonus to access the CH, not an assumption :)
And T3 has some decent shops and food from what I remember , lol

Hi SRH

Thanks for clearing that up for us all, maybe official word from VS will follow soon.

Hi L2H

It looks like SRH has found the new Lounge policy which says from today we must all be on the same flight.

Shame.

It's the two weeks holiday that counts anyway.

It would of been nice if VS gave a warning of this change, say three months. That way it would disappoint fewer people.

I guess that when the V-Flyer FAQ is updated, it will be more accurate than the VS website! Again...

I've been holding my tongue since the beginning of this thread, but I have to say this one thing. If VS wants to change the policy they ought to let their customers know. It would be embarrassing for the pax and their guests to arrive at the CH only to have the guests turned away.

I don't care about the underlying reasons. Just give people a heads up.
