Now watch every long-haired lay-about eco-worrior enviromental protestor whatever, come running from every corner of the globe to decry airports and flying. Never mind the inconvinent truth about how they got here. I can almost see the convoy of knackered old coaches on the A4, creating their own smokescreen.

I think the SouthWest one is a good idea. Not sure how that would impact on ATC at LHR. Would they need a second tower?

100,000 jobs rely on LHR being major hub, if this status is diluted there is a risk that another EU hub will start to erode these jobs.
Traffic (road) is an issue at LHR but no better at LGW/STN, maybe a more affordable and up to date public transport system inc park and ride has something to offer.

If a few of the hotels on the Bath road have to go maybe that is not such a bad thing.

Hi all
I read the thread and I agree about a third runway. Slinky you are so right about the hypocrisy surrounding the third runway.
I think another airport "close" to London is NOT an option but pie in the sky (infrastructure as mentioned by previous posters-the A2 is a carpark everyday. HS1? Way overpriced.
We already have a world renowned established airport which provides 100,000 odd jobs to the area. Why do we make such a meal out of making decisions in this country :-(
Dubai already has more runways. Ok they have more space but they know how to make decisions.
