I bagged my first ever G today. I had been booked on an S fare as there was no UC availability on the flight. My colleague on the same flight told me this afternoon that he had been able to upgrade to a J.

I immediately called the FC AU line thinking I'd have to do the same but I was able to get a miles upgrade for 10,000 miles and $250. y)

But I had done OLCI and maybe for that reason seem unable to do so for my G. I would really like to see if I can get my usual 9A. Any idea whether a call to the FC line will solve this problem?

If OLCI is open, then usually at this point the responsibility for the flight passes to the airport team, so it is very unlikely the call centre or Au line will be able to help you with a seat request/OLCI issue.

Hi Tinuks
Did I misunderstand this? you had already done OLCI then bagged a G?

you understood correctly.

I had done OLCI at T-24 and got my boarding pass on passbook last night but was able to bag a G today at T-8

wow! :0 didnt know you could do that.
Im guessing then that to get your favourite seat you will just need to check in early and request it.

I think you have to call them to get off loaded from the seat you have before you can check in otherwise you would be checking in for 2 seats on the same flight with the same ticket.

Also, you can only check in once the new ticket has been issued.

@buns it's a wonderful feeling and hopefully it's the first of many.

@gfonk and Trevski it was a lovely flight with great CC. I got a few hours sleep in the plane and I'm heading off to work in an hour.
