I am looking at a flight to Peru next year which I can do man - atl then atl to lim via delta. I can see on the flying club site it says return economy to usa is 40k miles. I have a couple of questions on this.

Is this 40k per leg per person or is it 40k return per person? Also can anyone advise how many miles it would take to do the whole journey?

Will probably give delta a call later but i just wanted to see if anyone on here had experience of using VS airmiles on delta yet/

Cheers

Hi there,

At the moment you have to ring the VS Flying Club to use VS miles on DL flights.

Looking at the Spend Miles section it's 40K per person round trip UK to USA then 45K per person round trip USA to South America in Economy plus taxes and fuel surcharges.

Peru is amazing I spent six weeks there back in 2011 and would go back again in a heartbeat.

Enjoy it.

Yeah I spoke to VS flying club and they said it would be £600 + 40k airmiles to Atlanta. They did say it would be 45k airmiles to peru on top of that but they couldn't book it for some reason.

Considering the flight i originally looked at was £570 it would not even be worth using the air miles to Atlanta let alone to Peru.

Looks like the flights have gone back up in price now as well, the wife is half Peruvian so I have been nagged to go for a while. will just have to keep looking for cheap flights or try and find a cheap open jaw!

Would love to hear them defend the tax and surcharge amount of £600 !!!!! From doing a straight cash booking it is kicking out a figure of about £358 for economy :?

Was that £570 all the way through to Peru? That is a really good price if so y)

I flew with Continental via EWR in Buisiness First / Upper Class for £2,000pp Air France wanted around £1,100 for Premium.

It might be worth looking at a VS reward to EWR then a revenue flight onto LIM.

yeah, have looked again today and their are quite a few flights in march for £570, she really couldn't defend herself against the £600 just to Atlanta. She thought it was a mistake and double checked and really couldn't believe it was coming out like that. Think i will just have to earn the miles from this flight and save them for going to the west indies in 2015 :)

I looked at flights from NY to LIM and i even the hop was coming out more expensive than the whole flight. Cant find any decent open jaw either at the moment.

As joeyc says £570 is a really good price and we are very tempted to book!
