Just read through all the past 3 pages and thank you for the knowledge that you have shared. I've found it all really interesting to read and hopefully this November I will be in luck with G-VSUN.

I've noticed that the A340-300s were being taken out of service last year and the last 4 will be taken out of service at the end of this year.
So hopefully G-VSUN will be the last of the ones taken out. If not though hopefully the tablet will be available.
Either way this won't affect the brilliant trip I've planned to Japan though for a cost that exceeds £1000 you expect the latest stuff Virgin offer.

Hi Kari
Perhaps let us know how you get on in November?
I seem to recall a few weeks back someone reckoning on the LHR-NRT route being a 346 for the winter season but that obviously has since changed (hence your thread on IFE) so I have made my list for my own IFE for my flight in Dec.
Anyway would be keen to see which plane you end up with.

I'll be more than happy to. Especially as you are flying a few weeks after me and hopefully it will be good news I bring.

One would've of thought with November being peak season that they would've given the A340-600 seeing as its the bigger plane of the two.

Have to agree on the IFE on the 340-300's being a poor show for VS. I'm a regular on the LHR-DXB route and have mainly experienced the 340-600. Only twice got a 340-300 and was really lucky to get VSUN on one of those. Had the 330 over the winter which (yes although the suite is not a patch on the 340-600) had great IFE, I do worry that a few traveller might have been watching all the VS advertising showing off the UC experience and then be pretty miffed and disappointed at the end result.

Yes, we are all pretty much AC savvy when it comes to these details but Joe punter is not. It must damage a bit of reputation. A bit of consistency would make a world of difference. I have to agree, if you pay the same for champagne three times you don't expect prosecco the third time. Oh, hang on.... There is consistency.... Three Different IFE's, Three Different Liveries ;-))

Thanks Kari :-) fingers crossed we get G-VSUN
Yes true - November and December are a busy season for NRT so bit surprised the schedule has been changed. I have mostly flown NRT in winter season (once in April) and have always been on either a 346 and G-VSUN so last flight on Molly I think it was, was a bit of a surprise

i got unlucky on the return leg from ORD last night & ended up in a 343 with V-REEL. The movie selection isn't bad, there's obviously less of them but there's still a selection of the new releases that are showing on the full systems. Just make sure you go to the loo before you start watching.

Bit of an oddity actually now with this system & the gate-gate IFE access; with no on-demand option all the films started as soon as we pushed back & they only announced the system would be on moments before someone hit 'play'

They shouldn't have turned the IFE on until after take-off otherwise those at bulkheads and exits miss the start of the movies as their monitors have to be stowed for take off
