Part Two ... HK --> SYD ...

Hong Kong was a stifling 36C - warm.. Even in the airport!
Leg two of my journey to sydney started well - UPGRADE! 19a became 17a - glass of bubbly in my hand after entering the craft through door A. Very happy with this :) the plane was very busy, so I hope someone in economy was treated with the same surprise when boarding, receiving my original seat :) my first unplanned upgrade. All the more welcomed as I was planning to purchase a bed for leg two as sleep on leg one was not exactly forthcoming. Nothing wrong with the PE seat, but do like a good old lie down :)

So, a hundred thank yous to whoever or whatever decided I would win this time in the great upgrade gamble.

To the flight itself, the gate to gate ife is a nice addition - not experienced this on the NYC Lhr route yet, hopefully will do so later on this month. I had been given 17a which i had avoided in previous journeys but it is actually quite a nice seat... Yes it's close to the bar and toilet, but a lot of room off my right shoulder for extra storage and to be honest, I was one of the pax moving around, so didn't disturb myself!

After quite a long time with the belt sign on (40 mins post departure) the meal series began in earnest.

The menu options included:
Mushroom soup
Roasted breast of duck (c)

Main
Grilled salmon
Tri-colour linguine
Braised beef rib(c)

Warm breads

Dessert
Date and pecan pudding
Lemon tart
Cheese and port

Standard VA Uc breakfast choices also included.

I went or the va 'Chinese Dining Experience' - (c)
The starter was amazing. Main was ok although the meat was pretty fatty. Pecan a d sticky toffee pudding was out of this world!

After dinner I took up residence at the bar for a night cap and general chit chat with the staff and fellow pax. Hot chocolate with Baileys x2 very nice !

The personal touches by VA don't go unnoticed - Greeted as Mr Farmer by all cc - nice touch:) and was congratulated for regaining silver membership ... Again, a very nice touch from the FSM.
Sleep suit donned and bed turned down (myself... I always hate asking for this to be done... Reminds me of the dreaded aa call to change a tyre )

Had a great chat with the FSM - she was lovely! In my honest opinion, at this point i really don't think VA could do anything more :) one very satisfied customer.

Breakfast was served about 90mins before landing. Bacon roll and coffee.
Landing was quick but the line at immigration was pretty severe! Luckily I had a fast track with the biometric passport. Shaved about 60mins off the airport waiting time.

Next journey will be with Air NZ to Auckland then onto Queenstown for some skiing.
If you have read this far have a cookie :)

Over and out

Thanks for the TR y)

Sounds like everything went very well indeed :D

I'll be embarking on pretty much the same trip next month, although no Guest list but have access to the CH being AU.
LHR-HKG in PE (VS)
HKG-SYD in UC (VS)
SYD-AKL in PE (Air NZ)
AKL-ZQN in Y (Jet Star)

It will be interesting to see how they compare, I hope they get it right for me in the way they did for you.
I'm still holding out for a G on the LHR-HKG leg.
