Hello,

Im new to these forums and hoping someone can help me :)

Im currently booked to travel on VS5/6 from LHR - MIA in March/April next year.

I had a letter through confirming a change to the flights by 25 minutes on the outbound leg from LHR to MIA in March.

I went onto the Virgin Website and noticed that when I fly home in April the VS5 arrives in MIA at 16:05 and then does not depart again well 21:00 nearly a 5 hour turnaround time.

Im just wondering if this is correct or the inbound flight VS6 will be due a change to the flight times shortly.

I need to book a connection at LHR but don't want to book one based on arriving at LHR at 10:40 and then end up arriving earlier.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
ZJC

turnaround times do vary so 5 hours is not un-usual.Airlines need to factor in all sorts of issues including the night flights limitations and other capacity constraints at LHR.

Looking at the schedule it appears that the VS6 consistently has a scheduled departure time of 21:00 (other than some periods where the clocks change on different dates in the US and UK)

When booking your connection remember to allow extra time in case your inbound flight is delayed. As you will be on seperate tickets you will not be protected which means if your flight from MIA is delayed and you miss your connection you are on your own and the connecting airline will not have to re-book you onto an alternative flight.

Hello

Thanks for your reply, I feel more relaxed about the timings of the flight now.

I'm planning a 5 hour connection at London Heathrow onwards to Manchester.

Does anyone know if Virgin transfer bags to BA at LHR on seperate tickets if you ask the staff at MIA.

I don't mind recollecting bags and checking in just thought it may save time
If they allow it

Thanks

Not sure about the bags from VS to BA.

But have you considered Litthe Red for the flight to MAN? Would be no issues there with bags - as long as you show your onward ticket to MAN when you check in at MIA.

Hello

Thanks for the advice,

I have considered Little Red and im flying down to LHR with Little Red from MAN but the connecting flight on the return isn't well 17:00 and I land at LHR at 10:40 so its a very long wait whereas the BA flights are a lot more regular.

If it wasn't for Jetlag I would drive it home but don't want to risk the tiredness and driving back up north.

The short answer is 'No". At one point it was possible to do this if you asked nicely but in the past few years VS have become very strict about this. It does no harm to ask, though but be prepared for the answer.

Hi honey lamb

Thanks for coming back to me Ill ask just to see what the answer is but I had planned to collect my bags and transfer terminals using the underground I just thought I would double check :)

Shame that the Little Red connection is too long a wait to justify.

It would seem not actually which is very interesting! :?

I was thinking that too Jon - have they quietly gone back down to 3 MAN flights in recognition of the fact that it's had the most disappointing loads of the LR routes?

Hi Horburyflyer

Yes the 1PM flight has dropped off the schedules for 2014 it appears!

I was very much looking forward to booking it as it would have been perfect timings however it wasn't there so ive had to result to looking into a BA flight and messing around manually changing terminals.

I have booked my Little Red flight for the way down to catch the connection.

Don't know if anyone can shed any light on why they removed the 1PM little red

Looks like the last lunchtime flight to MAN is on Sat 29 March. No reductions to the EDI or ABZ routes though.

Must be down to low loads. Disappointing.

It is disappointing! Hate to give BA my money but on this occasion it's the only choice!

I was talking with the CC on my flight up to MAN tonight, they were not aware of an changes to the actual number of flights as yet but were aware of rumours that Delta had a taken a slot but it was not confirmed....pure speculation of course....I knew from the forthcoming Winter schedule that the first flight to LHR from MAN is at 0550 rather than 0735 and new timings on other flights....so I think it's a matter of watching this space.....

I do know loads are picking up on the LR flights to/from MAN but Edinburgh is flying ahead (pardon the pun!).....might be related but would have thought any changes would have taken place this Winter....I guess there is time.

I wonder what time the Delta flight to Seattle is.... :w :?

See link within this this thread

departs LHR 12:20

arrives LHR 12:05

And before any mentions 'tight turn round time' they have already said they are using separate aircraft !

Ive got my fingers crossed that it will appear on the system soon! Don't want to wait too long as BA are constantly increasing the cost of the LHR-MAN connection but would much rather use Little Red
