AeroMobile, the leading inflight mobile phone operator, has confirmed EE as its latest roaming partner. The move gives EE’s 26 million* customers across the UK the option to use their own mobile phones inflight.....

Full details http://www.aeromobile.net/pressinfo/aeromobile-signs-agreement-with-ee/

I will get to try it tomorrow hopefully

I can confirm EE (I presume all 3 EE brands; 4GEE, T-Mobile & Orange) customers can now use AeroMobile, as I used it coming back from JFK the other week on both my iPhone 5 and 4th gen cellular iPad (4GEE customer here) :)

You only get an Edge data connection but that's enough for some light web browsing & Facebooking etc.

Interesting the EE have also yet to charge me for the data roaming on my iPhone (yet the iPad usage was charged within 24hours though)?

The EE data roaming add-on/purchase system (only works with 4GEE & T-Mobile as the current Orange roaming system is still different until everything is fully integrated) also thought I was in Norway as well and so was only charging the EU data roaming rate for data :)

It was something like £2.50 for 20mb instead of £5.00 for 10Mb which is the US data roaming rate. Texts where 50p each to send. Do remember that all EE roaming charges also exclude VAT.

Just returned from Orlando.

Aeromobile worked on EE but I could not get Data / Internet to work for some reason. Voice and SMS did work.

Checked all my settings but could not get data to work. - Probably saved me a few £££ as a result.

Unusual - I used a similar service on Irish Ferries, using a system also 'based' in Norway, and I was happily charged the full super-enormous non-EU roaming rate.

Maybe the satellite upload link comes from Norway for the AeroMobile system?

Edit to add - yep, just found this on the AeroMobile website:

AeroMobile, a joint venture of ARINC Incorporated and Telenor ASA........Headquartered in Oslo, Norway, Telenor is an international provider of high quality telecommunications, data and media communication services
Virgin Atlantic
