The final countdown

Well only just over a week to go and excitement is mounting.

I have totally obsessed with looking at our booking ) just checking we are still in UC 8D

Anyway I noticed that when I select a childs meal for our son it does not save the information and has reset back to none when I go back in. Is this an IT gremlin at work ? ?|

Is it worth ordering a childs meal in UC. He is pretty easily pleased food wise, as long as there is a chicken, sausages or pasta option ?
Is the current menu somewhere ? We are on VS23 to LAX.

Also I have currently selected seats 11K window, 11G across the aisle and 12K window.
We were orignally slightly further forward but I read somewhere that the bassinet position is in row 8 so moved us back a little in case. I love babies but don't want to risk being near a screaming one for 11 hours.

I am hoping that from either of the window seats our son will be able to see whichever parent is in 11g ? I cannot tell from the seatmap whether the seats are off set or exactly in line which each other.
Hope that makes sense ?

Hi L2H, I know that excitement well.. all part of the travel experience.

IT gremlins are infamous but to be sure of the special meal choices it is best to phone VS UC services to confirm.

Huh, have not seen a TR for the VS43 for a while... perhaps you can fill us in on the menu and flight in due course. If in doubt go for a special meal, in UC there is always the graze menu and they are pretty good at catering to your requirements. I have read on here about people getting items from PE, ECO or even the staff trolley (HL ) so I think he should be fine.

The seats are not perfectly in line, but if junior is sat in 11K he will be able to see parent in 11G and also have parent in 12K just behind. You could always put junior in 11G so both parents can glare at him though.. Ha

Planning your seating

Young passengers in child seats will need to be accompanied by a guardian aged at least 16 who must be seated next to the child in the Economy and Premium Economy cabins. In Upper Class, the guardian must be seated immediately behind the child.

One guardian may accompany two children using child seats providing the adult is seated between the two children in the same seat row segment in Economy or Premium Economy.

In our Upper Class cabins, the second child may be seated either directly across from or immediately in front of the guardian.

To check the availability of child seats on your flight and to book, call our reservations team on 0844 874 7747.

What age they class a "child" at, I have no idea but just a thought if you wanted to put your little man across the aisle from you.

No worries, it won't let me put our son across the aisle, I get an error on the seat map but if he wants to sit there he can swap with his dad. He always requests a window seat, I have explained that he will be facing away from the window ! We have had lots of fun looking at youtube videos of the UC cabin. He likes to know everything about the plane before we go, a proper little plane spotter !

I did look at the Hyatt Regency though before we decided on Honua Kai.
I really cannot wait to be there now, just need to get through 4 more days at work, then a hectic few days in LA with a large mouse )
This time next week we will hopefully be enjoying the CH ^)

I too am someone who checks my bookings regularly in a countdown frenzy, checking all kinds of info about flight experience, cabin, seats... It's the geek in me coming out to play!

We stayed at the Aston Mahana next door for the same reasons ( and had a condo with a view and sunsets to die for right on the water ).I can recommend a Lava Flow ( or three) at Duke's too .
Just to let you know the beach has some flat rock outbreaks but if you go up ( or down) a little way you'll find plenty of flat sand.
