hi guys

second time poster here, but have been lurking around for a while.

so, i've been booked on VS8 for ages + finally got an upper class reward seat that opened up on the later flight that day, VS23.

normally this route sees 2 x a340 - 600 daily but i've noticed that VS8 was a 747 now.. and the VS23 i've been changed to is an a340 - 300 v(

so the probability of me being lumped with the old odyssey system is pretty much a given. does anyone know if they're still trialling the tablets with more entertainment, or is this over now? saw someone mention this somewhere.

i'm hoping a reward seat opens up on VS8 so i can get back onto the plane with a newer system. but would be good to know in the meantime!

thanks all

last report I saw was that the tablets have been removed - something to do with problems charging them up.

As for the actual plane they can and do change plane types both on a seasonal basis and depending on the day of the week.

It would be very unusual for one of the 343's to fly over to LAX. These aircraft are nearly always on the shorter flights.

The VS it system if full of bugs which set all flights to a 343 as a default.
VS23/24 is almost guaranteed a 340-600

Not really only used on shorter flights.... They have been used on Shanghai, Cape Town & Tokyo very recently and will continue to see those longer range destinations over the winter.

I believe tablets are BACK... but only in UPPER.

I've had the "pleasure" of the 343 back from Tokyo earlier in the year.

As discussed on a previous thread about it(I'm on iPhone so can't search and link it here but some one else may be able too) the consensus seemed to be that if you got an inkling you are gona be on a 343 then be prepared. ie load up you phone or tablet or laptop and or take books etc

If only that were true :(

Flew a 343 into CPT this March in PE. The loop IFE was a real shock after getting used to the 346 fleet. Would avoid if possible.

Had I realised, I probably would have (This would have involved using another carrier sadly).

yes i checked flights days before and after mine and they're ALL A346!

so i'm just very unlucky that they put the A343 on my flight that day for some reason.

i'l keep trying to get on the earlier VS8 that day. reservations said i can even turn up for the earlier flight at the airport and try to get on it (if there's a free seat, they'll try to do it). as i work only a few minutes from LAX i suppose i'll give that a try.

if that doesn't work.. then lots of iTunes rentals for me!
