Hi there,

We are flying to Boston on Oct 25 & rtn from Miami on the 13th Nov, We are flying in PE.

How much would it cost to upgrade to UC and is it worth it?

I did try to get the costs from my e-ticket but no joy so any help would be great

Thanks

Is there no upgrade option on your MMB?

I think it's worth it for sure. If you are prepared to pay the cost

No I have tried everyway, tried manage my flights nothing, guess I will have to call them?

Also have you heard about this system where you can bid for a upgrade?

depends on fare class. And if you'd upgrade online or at the airport. And also depends in what country you book the upgrade. From UK>US it's hardly ever a decent deal. From US>UK there are a lot of times good deals at the airport.

Who did you book with? if it was with VS then you can just ring them and they will do the calculations. Depending on the fare codes it could be from "ohhh that's reasonable" to "ouch"

But if it was via a travel agent (including virgin holidays) you need to contact them and not VS. VS will not touch a travel agent booking until t-24

the 'your bid' only operates on certain flights and certain destinations but again you would need to have booked direct with VS to be able to do this. It also only applies from Economy to PE and not to Upper

Upgrade options usually appear in manage your bookings but are not always offered.

Give them a ring and they will cost the options for you.

And only from economy to premium economy I think?

As for whether paying to upgrade is worth it, only you can decide that. The Clubhouse and Revivals lounge at LHR are undeniably great, and the flat bed is obviously a bonus.

But you could argue that the £500-1000 per leg you could end up paying could buy you some amazing treats on your holiday - or be put aside for another one.

Your fare class will be on your eticket.
Do you have any miles to use ?

Not really enough information to answer your query but as everyone else has suggested give VS a call and they will advise.... Good luck :)

Is it possible there are none left?
I recall that about a week or so before my outbound the upgrade offer on MMB (which had been there since the booking was made) disappeared.

If you have someone wanting to pay you more money it's a daft company that won't even price it up for you.

The OP is looking for a cash upgrade and not using miles - which are limited in number

Certainly for the LHR to BOS flights there are 9+ seats in UC available according to flightstats.com. I didn't look for the MIA return but would imagine something similar this far out.

Offers come and go in MMB for all sorts of reasons and can be very route dependent. So what was offered to you won't necessarily happen to someone else on a different route. I've had it that an offer was there one week, gone the next two and back again after that (with a different price).

You are right about that tontybear
If there are seats available then they must available.
As others have suggested, a call to VS is best.

Be prepared for a slight shock when you hear the price. As you booked your flight directly with VS from the start I am guessing there was a reason you chose PE over UC at that point. UC prices seldom reduce nearer departure time and the price to 'buy up' to UC is almost never cheaper than buying it at the outset.
If you are paying I don't really count that as an 'upgrade' as you are paying for it. If you are using miles to do it then that is the best value way to 'upgrade' and don't forget that sometimes it is cheaper to buy miles to upgrade than pay up to the UC fare.
