Have done a search and can't see anything on this so here goes...:D

Looking at possible honeymoon destinations for September next year and Dubai is an option. Have heard however that there are some large building projects going on which can be a nuisance. Anyone know the particular areas to avoid in this repect or is it not a problem?

It is a couple of years since I was in Dubai, but there was a massive amount of building work going on then, and - from what I can make out - it still continues.

We stayed right on the beach at the Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa

I can't say the work really bothered us, we could see the building of the massive Palm Island from our hotel and there was a building work going on across the (busy and wide) road. To be honest, there was building work all over the city.

For us, Dubai was a great place and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Is there anything in particular you were referring to?

There is a fair amount of building work going on with The Palm but that is set to continue into 2007. Friends of mine who have been to DXB have agreed with Nick in that building work was barely noticble.

The Burj Al Arab also is doing some renovation (so i hear) but that it all scheduled for the Summer.

I'll be in Dubai in March, and more than happy to give you an update on my return.

Thanks for the replies [y] - they have reassured me that Dubai should be a contender - the future wife is keen on the sound of the shoppping malls!

I think it must have been the Palm that I had heard about and was wondering if it was something that completely took over.

I work in Construction so am not adverse to some building work around me - just not too much. In fact looking at the web-site about the Palm I am more interested in going there and seeing it!
