I'm flying from SFO to NYC for a week, weekend stay in NYC then to LHR on a Sunday night then return home Thursday.

My company has a somewhat but not completely strict policy against biz-class with a bit of vagueness around premium eco.

Virgin Atlantic round trip is <$2K plus 7500 miles. But, it's direct which doesn't work...

I can do a Delta routing (all VS+VX flights - why can't I book that on VX or VS directly) for $4200 Premium Economy. Booking it as open jaw on Virgin Atlantic direct costs $700 more without the SFO-NYC leg.

I'm Silver on Virgin Atlantic, no status on Virgin America (but I have 5 VX round trips this fall scheduled.)

Ideas?

Because VS doesn't fly SF-NYC, it doesn't show up as an option in the VS Multi-city listing. Status only makes a diff wrt upgrades.

I'm assuming that if I book Economy on Delta, even though I'm on VS code-share flights, I won't be able to use miles to upgrade..

You could try calling the FC helpline.

I booked a trip for my wife earlier this year and another for myself we are due to travel next week

The Wife
LHR-SFO VS
SFO-LAX VX
LAX-AKL ANZ
AKL-LAX ANZ
LAX-LHR VS

Me
LHR-SYD VS
SYD-AKL VA
AKL-SYD VA
SYD-LHR VS

Neither the Virgin America or Virgin Australia flights showed up during the online booking process yet the Flying Club agent had it booked in no time at all.

Best of luck

Correct but equally you can't use DL miles to upgrade on a VS flight.
