A historic moment for me, the first op-up to Upper in 11 years of business travel using all airlines.

Plane was fully booked, and op-up occured when sat in my PE booked seat sipping the sparking wine... 20 mins after being on plane. An apology from the cabin crew when someone else came to my seat - sir, you should have been upgraded at gate. This is your seat... Front of upper class on Right (think it was 1K).

Mumbai airport, now the security is mental, but the actual experience, the ground staff I should mention for VS particularly are excellent - chatty and thoroughly friendly people.

The flight, being a night flight was quite uneventful - had some whiskys on the plane/bar upon takeoff to send me to land of nod once bed made. Cabin crew friendly - and treated me despite being an op-up at least as well as the people who had paid for the service. Nothing was too much trouble for the crew dealing with my side of plane.

Food, I had the Indian bites selection, which was excellent upon boaring, then the Full English upon waking up from my slumber. The orange juice served in Upper is fantastic tasting. Only downside, is even Upper get the miniscule croissants ;). With a full english, this is acceptable though. A step above PE.

Only question is next time should I spend miles for same service...

Regarding using Miles to upgrade. I guess it comes down to whether you feel that it is worth it.

Me personally I feel it definitely is.

What a super thing to happen - and actually being seated in PE so one would not expect an Op-up at that time .
Glad you enjoyed the experience.

Good result on the op-up.

Ahh why not spend miles on that upgrade next time around, it saves them from just sitting in your account :P

Cheers for the TR 8D
