Looks like they've changed the plane on us for our flight to YVR on Wednesday.

Only done 346 and both configs of 747. What's so bad about the new suite again? Anything I can prepare in advance to make up?

If people tell you what is bad then you will focus on those things.

Why not just go open minded and looking forward to the seat and then when you get back share your experience.

What is wrong for someone might be acceptable for someone else.

I agree
An "old boy" I met in NZ on my travels said to me, when travelling its best to lower your expectations then you are less likely to be disappointed

There is only one seat I would recommend on this aircraft in UC if you're planning in sleeping and that is 7D - much more roomy and increased privacy.

I don't think there's much you can do to prepare.

Opinions have varied on the new seat. I am more positive than some, but there are certainly niggles.

If you are on a day flight and just sitting there, watching IFE, eating, etc., I don't think you'll find it too bad.

It is more criticised as a bed, or for work (wobbly table), or for its narrowness.

The bigger issue for me is the very cramped cabin.

I quite agree with this, until you try something for yourself, you are not going to be able to make a true judgement.

I had no issues what so ever with the new seat coming back from New York the other week on the VS26. I didn't use the bed so cannot comment on that but the rest of it was good. I certainly didn't feel the cabin was any more cramped than other VS J cabins either (and J was full).

I'd have no hesitation in picking another A330 J flight again here :)

This is an ok comment from the old boy in NZ, but not if your paying TOP PRICE for your flight and your seat

As at240 says its more to do with the cramped cabin the suites are on more than the suite itself .
James ,there seems to be more room on an a346 and certainly the A zone on a 744 for me

That's a fair point :-$
Although i have yet to try the new UCS I understand the feelings/sentiment in the same way when I get Vera reel

I agree with the VERA reel, am flying to BGI in a couple of weeks on G-VINE so will find out for myself what the UCDS is like

I'm glad that it's not just me who likes the UCDS :) - but I'm admittedly very surprised by that comment. The aisles are (and feel, to me) very noticeably narrower than on a 346.

James were you wearing your speccies?

Hopefully Smid you'll have a fabulous VS crew who will make up for the terrible UCDS.

I've only had the awful experience of the travelling overnight in the 333 UC suite from New York. Once in a lifetime was enough.

As I tried to lie down in that cramped claustrophobic UC suite, I had a sudden fear that my life was over - my coffin had been delivered by courtesy of VS v( I asked for the bed to be put back into the seat position to stop the panic palpitations. Never again.
